Profile

Greetings!! I am a Canadian nurse, music lover, and record collector. Please click on Seller Terms at the top right when you are viewing my items for sale for more information. Thank you for visiting my store!

HERE IS MY GRADING PROCESS:

Mint (M):
Assumed to be perfect in every way, although obviously unseen. Media is still sealed. If the sleeve shows any imperfections (dent in corner, etc), I will describe the issue.

Near Mint (NM/M-):
A very new-looking record. Occasionally records come right out of the shrink with purely cosmetic manufacturing imperfections such as "heat smears" in the vinyl or fingerprints from the factory that absolutely don't affect the play in any way, and are often only visible when light hits the media at a specific angle. We have all bought/seen LPs with minor visual issues as described. Unless it looks quite unusual, or affects the sound IN ANY WAY I usually won't point this type of thing out. Please ask if it is important to you. If an LP is brand-new but unfortunately does have imperfections of the type that affects the sound (bubble, "non-fill" issues, scratch from manufacture, etc), it is definitely NOT a NM record, even if it has never been played!

The sleeve should look like you bought the record very recently, and is basically brand-new. If there's any deviation from my description here and I still list an LP as NM, I will clearly describe my reasoning. Again, please feel free to ask about any record in particular if you want more in-depth descriptions. I don't mind, and I completely get it.

Very Good+ (VG+):
This is the most used (and misused) grade on Discogs.
I've bought my share of VG+ records that should have been VG. We all have. Here's how I grade a VG+ record: The media will show some light signs of use and may have very slight manufacturing markings, light paper scuffs or rarely, the finest of hairlines that don't affect play. However - and this is the important point - even if there's several fine hairlines, the record should STILL play with almost no surface noise. A VG+ RECORD SHOULD STILL SOUND VERY MUCH LIKE A NM RECORD, although appearance simply prevents designating the media as NM. IN OTHER WORDS, VG+ IS REALLY MORE OF A VISUAL GRADE THAN A SONIC ONE. And that's where people misuse this grade. Crackly records are NOT VG+! Ever!! Once a record starts SOUNDING used, you have moved into the VG area and below. Simply put, a VG+ record should sound NM or close to, but has some light visual imperfections/wear that prevent being graded NM.

The sleeve may have slight creasing and a hint of ring wear. I look at a VG+ record as one that someone has played but has tried to take extremely good care of it and it shows. Some wear is going to be unavoidable, but the previous owner(s) have done their very best to try to keep it as NM as possible along the way. One day that record will be VG, but not yet!

Very Good (VG):
Here's where some OCCASIONAL surface noise might be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages & intros, but during louder sections is completely undetectable for the most part. If a record has audible background noise throughout most of it, even very very light, it is a G+ record, not a VG record. There will likely be hairlines, some fine scuffs and some very light scratches, but the important and vital thing is that none of this will overpower the music, and again, any background noise is generally ONLY detectable on album side run-ins, soft passages, and in-between tracks. Expect a record that is still a realistically enjoyable listen and does not skip on any section (not on my system, anyway). I have VG records that I play all the time, because the background noise is unobtrusive, and that's the main point. Sometimes media is rated VG due solely to appearance, although there isn't much background noise apparent, if at all. I will point this out if it is the case by describing it as a "VG record that sounds VG+". Often older records from the 60s are blessed with this "feature." Better vinyl, deeper grooves. In general, those older records can take a bit more abuse before much, if any, background noise is detectable at all.

Sleeve may have defacement (small owner's name in pen/marker, etc.), very minor tape repair to seam splits, creases, stickers on & discolouration. As always, I will describe anything that is not basic general wear.

Good+ (G+):
The record will have significant surface noise and many light scratches and visible groove wear but is still a playable copy without skipping. This is basically a VG record in which the surface noise has advanced to the point where the listener can now begin to detect it during the tracks as well as in quiet sections and lead-in. However, it is still quite listenable and again, on my system, does not skip anywhere. Sleeve will likely be quite worn with possible tape repair to rips, advanced ring wear, or some sort of moisture/water damage. However, it still holds the record!

Poor (P), Fair (F)
I don't think I sell anything with this grading but if I do, the record will be cracked, badly warped, and won't play through without skipping or repeating, or the background noise competes with the music. The sleeve is possibly water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing. The sleeve barely keeps the media inside it. I probably would only sell something like this if it is an extremely collectible item, or if one of the parts (sleeve/media) was in decent shape and I thought it would be useful to someone (with the other part being the heavily damaged item).

Thank you again for considering purchasing from me. I will always do my best to make our interaction and transaction an enjoyable, positive experience for both parties. If in the very unlikely case you are unhappy with any aspect of your purchase, I ask that you PLEASE contact me first before leaving negative feedback. As of this writing, I am still a new seller and feedback is very important to me as it is to most sellers here on Discogs. Thank you, and happy listening!

David

Yep, as of today (May 3) there's 4 suspicious listings in a row if you look at them with the "lowest price first." Two sellers with two for sale each. They are both new sellers with zero ratings. If anyone buys their LPs for sale they are not very... See full review

I've got the black copy, released on the same day. I'm the submitter of it here. I can't attest to any degradation to the sound quality which might be present due to the orange vinyl, but since it's the same remaster job as the black vinyl copy, I... See full review

This 1976 pressing matches your runouts, but of course there's other obvious differences between it and first-year pressings such as a much lighter-coloured apple, among other things like a centred "331/3" on the left label, and a larger Ⓟ on the... See full review

It depends, really. It shouldn't but collectors or a funny bunch. I'm sure it sounds the same and in fact if you take a look at the stamper letters instead, or the mother numbers, you might have a more desirable pressing than all -1/-1/-1/-1 lacquers.... See full review

Here in Canada we like our hockey, and a bag of ten pucks goes for about $25. So although not an overly inexpensive record, that's a decent price!

All joking aside I like it a lot too, particularly the last three tracks. Not more than Loveless, however.
