Agreed. I have a copy that looks like elves used it for a skating rink, and it still sounds glorious.

I have nothing to compare this to, but to my ears it's a very good pressing. Big, dynamic sound. I'm no audiophile, but I'm very happy with this.
Streetcar Named Desire - Life Begins

This feels like the saxophonist from Destroyer's Poison Season collaborating with a UK indie pop band while a 1980s Michael Mann movie plays in the background.
The New Pornographers - Continue As A Guest

A few crackles from B3 to B5, but otherwise it sounds fairly good. I haven't given it a cleaning, either, so that might help. Musically, it feels like a return to form after the solid but uneven In The Morse Code Of Brake Lights. It has a gauzy,... See full review

Great album, somewhat flat sound on this release. It's far from unlistenable, but it sounds like a radio in another room in contrast to the sparkling 2018 half-speed mastered reissue.

Does anyone have an idea of when this particular reissue was released?
Stevie Nicks - Bella Donna

I have this and a Canadian pressing. On some tracks, this one has some subtle sibilant distortion that is not present on the Canadian press. Hard to say if it's a pressing flaw or a problem with the individual disc.
Cowboy Junkies - The Caution Horses

This is a solid pressing to my ears. Clear, warm and intimate sounding.

Your recommendation (and the cover art) convinced me to pick this up, and I have to thank you. What a fantastic record! It should definitely have a post-punk tag.
R.E.M. - Fables Of The Reconstruction / Reconstruction Of The Fables
posted a review of R.E.M. - Fables Of The Reconstruction / Reconstruction Of The Fables. about 1 year ago
Seconded. It's a beautiful sounding pressing, with all the chiming guitar tones and warmth coming through, good separation, and clear vocals that don't overpower the music.

I would not characterize this as synth-pop. Perhaps excepting the final track, the album has far more in common with some of the weirder post-punk and indie pop coming out of the UK around the same time. Pairs well with Blue Orchids or Essential... See full review

Distortion on the inner grooves (which happen to contain the best tracks) mars an otherwise great release. Phenomenal, underappreciated album.

I agree with the positive retrospective reviews here. It's a killer album. In terms of 21st century Fall, it's one of the best, if not the best. Having said that, it starts stronger than it finishes, but that's a quibble.

A strange album, and occasionally beautiful. "Everytime I Get Around You," in particular, is a terrific bit of avant-pop. Adrian Borland's contributions are evident and very welcome. The only real misstep is "Gypsy Solitaire." It's an interesting... See full review

The music and vocals are wonderful, although the lyrics sometimes rank among Mark Burgess' weakest ("Dolphin" is a wretched embarrassment of adolescent poetry).

IMO, "The Flood" and "Disney Boys" are the two best songs Blue Orchids ever recorded. If you only have Money Mountain, you're missing out. Grab this compilation, or the 7" with those two tracks. You won't be disappointed.

So damned good. Post-punk unlike anything else out there, with psyched-out organ bleating its heart out. Martin Bramah's nearly-tuneless voice wails from a microphone that Mark E. Smith must have discarded for being too lo-fi. Ripe for reissue by a... See full review
