amazing reprint, great remaster, once again a great job from this label :)

I wasn't expecting much, and got something not worth keeping that was sent back directly. Warped record, awful flat sound, absolutely uninteresting demos, useless packaging... pay the extra and get any of the old presses (even the colour ones sound great!), you won't regret any cent...

Suicide - Dream Baby Dream cyl

Very very nice mastering, super flat and quiet record, largely worth getting, a real pleasure!

ERP* - Afterimage cyl

February 24, 2019
Yes, same here. Definitely not deliberate! :) and the mastering is great, it's just a crappy pressing. Really sad, Burning Question is the best track i've heard in a long while....

The Doors - Waiting For The Sun cyl

January 2, 2019
The rough mixes are absolutely fantastic. Some tracks are even better than the final mixes. It feels like Morrison is staying right in front of us... it's haunting.
But the vinyl is a disaster. First copy I had sounded like a G+. Went to ultra sound cleaning and nothing changed. Second copy is better, but still a lot of defects. At the end of the day, it's quite insulting to have such a crapy quality pressing for a "deluxe" pressing with 5 pages technical explanations about the remastering and the lacquer cut, and a vinyl that sounds like a mispress :/

Mkwaju Ensemble - Mkwaju cyl

I completely agree, Optimal don't have any idea what Quality Control means, when you're lucky they do very honest pressing, but at least 50% of the records I buy that was pressed at them need to be sent back as they have all sorts of defects. It's really a joke...

Hatis Noit - Illogical Dance cyl

Really really good mastering, cuting and pressing job.
My copy is flawless which is really important for that kind of music!
Happily surprised!

Kevin Drumm - Inexplicable Hours cyl

I love Drumm and these are great pieces, but the pressing is quite depressing. Side C made me really regret my edition doesnt have the CD with it, so much background noise, on such a delicate piece, this doesnt really make any sense. And then again, if it s for listening to a CD, why would I keep such a huge and heavy package?

Frank Sinatra - Frank Sinatra Sings For Only The Lonely (60th Anniversary Edition) cyl

October 25, 2018
This is such a treat... Unbelievable sound, especially for anyone who's heard the awful repress that were done 2 years ago and which sounded so thin and poor.
But this is incredible. I have some of the MFSL Sinatra repress, and I have to say this reissue is close to them. His voice is not as rich, but the Orchestrations on this pressing are unbelievable large). Absolutely quiet pressing on top of it.
The only two minor complains are
-why not press it at 45rpm since it's a double, the sound would have been even better?
-how amazing would it be the get also the mono repress like that?

In any case... I would only recommend to get it!

Davy Graham - Large As Life And Twice As Natural cyl

I was so excited this got finally put on reprint. Poor Davy, he would really deserve a propper treatment of his discography... Anyways, I had poor hope on this, but I am super satisfied. This is a super honestly done reprint. Extremely quiet record, very nice mastering job, large sound, nice and warm basses, a pleasure. Plus a serious and meticulous work on the cover. High five!

Blonde Redhead - Masculin Féminin as reviewed by cyl

I am seriously impressed by Numero group... those guys have a real commitment to keep on doing exactly the same years after years: pick up fantastic artists, dig into their material, craft crazy packages, invest money into remastering and ruin their whole job with a poor pressing wraped up in a paper sleeve to make sure every record comes with a good amount of paper scuff... then their reputation gets worst, bad reviews, and their amazing records go on sale quickly.
seriously guys? Just investing into inner sleeves doubled with plastic would already change dramatically the whole thing. What s wrong? Two options: either they are deaf or they only play their own records on MP3. Or they just live on another planet.

One improvemnt though in comparison with years ago: the records dont come anymore with massive warps. Lol

Once again, what a pity, Blonde Redhead were so fantastic. I love those 2 records.

The Kinks - The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society cyl

August 23, 2018
Very clean, nice pressing, not sure who did the master but sounds to me as good as that done by Gray for Face to Face. Lovely Mono.
Only downside: ugliest and most useless inner Gatefold ever done ;)
Great buy!

This is such a pity... this record is stunning, the mastering precious, and all is ruined by the fact that the record was packed directly in the paper inserts and not in a separate protective insert. I got 2 copies and both have very very noisy paper scuffs. What a bummer...

Does anyone has any feedback about this pressing? Is it as bad as ? This is another Back in Black release which sounds like something worth staying away from as most of what they release...

Ali Touré "Farka"* - Ali Farka Touré cyl

Those AFT repress are a gift :)
Very quiet vinyl, too, happy surprise on this. Careful job on the cover. Not sure what the source was but the records sound good.

??? Definitely not the quietest record I own :)
This is amazing, magic music, I love Mississippi records and there is for once a propper mastering, but you have to deal with usual paper scuffs, bits of clicks and pops. Not huge, and some older records from them are a disaster in comparison, so there s some progress, but still... it's not the ideal music to listen on a DYI press...

Pink Floyd - Obscured By Clouds cyl

May 16, 2018
I am a huge fan of the Pink Floyd remasters, they are incredible. But why did this one came in a cheap paper sleeve indeed? And side B has visible misprints on track 1and 4, it ruins the whole experience. I am getting a second copy hope they are not all like that.... :(

Pet Shop Boys - Please cyl

April 21, 2018
Completely agree with what is already written. I was very much looking forward to this, and the result is stunning. The basses are very heavy but the sound is so much more spacious. I never heard this amazing record like that. It's so good, it's almost overwhelming...
One more time, an amazing repress on Parlophone.

The mastering is great job, but this is the noisiest pressing i have heard in a while... I have VG looking records that have less clicks and pops. Pressing by Optimal Media are anyways sometimes dispointing in my experience.

Ornette Coleman - Change Of The Century cyl

March 30, 2018
No indications of what were the sources, paper scuffs on the print that do not play, but this is an excellent reprint. Sound as good as the Rhino reprints for Atlantic.

Yeah, nice job at Pallas for that pressing. As for the Breeders... it's an incredible record. Moving, mature, raw, minimal. Saw them live a few months ago and Mrs Deal is truly hypnotizing, but they have such a fun mood between them. They just never get old, they just get better.

Bob Lind - Since There Were Circles cyl

What a nice repress... cover and record. Not audiophile, but really nice job, it sounds great, propperly pressed and tip on cover looks great.

Chet Baker & Paul Bley - Diane cyl

Incredible repress... the sound is perfect, has been pressed at Pallas and you can clearly hear it. Amazing reissue for this absolute classic! I love this record so much, used to listened to it on CD when i was a kid...

Yeah, I agree with the last two posts.
This reissue is a very good job, the remastering is proper, it's definitely worth getting the 45rpm version and no, not all the stuff that's being printed right now is garbage, this is an excellent proof. It's amazing to get the chance to get such a good reissue of this masterpiece. Just play it on a good sound system.
I have been buying vinyls for a while and 10 years ago, reissues were generally much worst, I have to say. Aside of a few company everyone worked with digital masters. Nowadays, things are changing, this is a good proof.

The best reissue of 2017!

Harmonia - Deluxe cyl

Mine is very well pressed and i am happily surprised by the quality of the non attractive "digital remastering" thats adverstised on the sticker. Very honest repress!
