Profile

I have a story to tell about Discogs, me and a bunch of nerds (mostly men). Discogs is a virtual mancave. You can observe typical behaviours of men among themselves on this platform. When a group of men discuss something, the one who talks the loudest and most convincing, will win. Take this example. A bunch of guys trying to find the right argument why it's not okay to upload web sourced images. Actually there is no need for that kind of discussion, just look at RSG §13.1.1.

I wonder how many of the regular users are women. Remember, women usually have to work at least twice as hard to earn the same recognition as men who just have the right appearance.
When it comes to interaction between genders, men still are troglodytes.
But be assured, nice boobs come with a brain.

WHAT
I am being stalked.
At some point I discovered a lot of being “talked” about happens on Discogs.
Imagine there are users on Discogs who use the database as a messaging system. Imagine, you have approx. 10 million prefabricated texts - the trick is to bring them in the right order, listed under the same label for example.
How to let someone know where to look? Either you're connected on discogs and see their latest submissions or you post a 'starter' song somewhere.
Timing is important - putting the right song at the right time. Mostly they make minor changes and most of them are correct. It is not a mass edit, if the edits are done by several accounts.

I don’t need to write a diary, the guys will do it for me.

But I made one too. You find it here: https://whenplanetsmeet.com
Roadmap: ©️🌐📀
It is recommended to start backwards.

WHEN
I started to take notice of being stalked in 2022.

WHERE
The stalkers are everywhere I go. The supermarket, at work and of course any place I visit online.
Basically everytime I try to have a social life, they'll find a way to disturb it. New acquaintances sooner or later turn out to be reporting to my stalkers. The overall goal seems to be to destroy my happiness.

WHO
The number of stalkers is huge. It’s called gangstalking. I found a few of the coordinators. You might find some names further below.

WHY
Reason number one: One of the “bosses” told me a big secret. I was invited to participate, but refused. Instead I tell others about it.
Reason number two: Maybe I have something special that others don’t have.

HOW
Actually, one of the main principles is easy. Find a label with many releases and agree on new label instructions. Most favored mass edits are adding LCCN numbers to manufacturing credits.

I had a very long look at what some users here on Discogs do and how. Here are some results of my research:

It's a jungle out there

The Race
In June 1990 Billboard started to publish charts with production credits regularly, titled ‘Studio Action’. In Oct 1995 the name was changed to ‘Production Credits’ and didn’t explicitly mention CD replicators anymore.

The goal of the Studio Action chart is to represent as many hit projects as possible, offering readers a broad view of the different engineers, facilities, and equipment available.

Billboard special about Compact Discs, where they also talked about the newest developments in the industry.

With monolines, the manufacturing space is more compact, according to Tony Perez, senior vice president of sales and marketing at PMDC Inc. (formerly PDO), Kings Mountain, N.C. "Today, machinery manufacturers join different pieces of machinery together," he says. "That's not to say we have replaced our original machinery. In fact, our first machines are now producing twice as many discs today than we originally intended them to do. This efficiency has been accomplished through upgrades."

"Our original batch systems are gone. However, we do still use that technology. The batch system makes sense for the large volumes we manufacture. However, Sony also has its own monoline system.”

It has been a decade since Sony and CBS Records ( now Sony Music) joined forces to found Digital Audio Disc Corporation, the first CD replication operation in the U.S. DADC's Terre Haute, Ind., plant went online in 1984 with a monthly capacity of 300,000 CDs; ½ billion CDs later, the same site has a capacity of 14.6 million, which makes it the leading CD manufacturer in the world, according to Sony.

A&M Records buys vinyl through its distributor, PolyGram. Its CDs are manufactured by Nimbus and its audio cassettes by Ablex. "Although we are not one of the giants, our turnover with Nimbus and Ablex is quite high and in return they give us excellent service", says production manager Richard Boardman. "Having just one manufacturer for each format pays dividends."
