Record Store Guy / Hobbyist
Every day I’m busy grading, buying, and selling at an old school “brick and mortar” record shop, and while that job satisfies my collecting urge, I often sell from my personal stash in order to spiff up my bachelor pad.

Discogs Store
Feel free to have a look: https://www.discogs.com/seller/dirtyvinylcollecting/profile

As with my day job, I strive to keep prices on items from my own collection (50s, 80s, religious, promos, etc) very fair.

As I'm busy outside of this hobby, I lack the time to haggle over prices, which is why I state that prices are firm in my Seller Terms.

Cheap CDs
I don’t and won’t sell CDs with numerous defects, and each +/- $1 “cheap” CD is playtested on consumer grade CD decks and should play as described.

(FWIW, from skuffs to cracked jewel cases, I’m a MUCH bigger fan of vinyl.))

Accuracy in Grading and Pricing
At retail I see the effects of inaccurate grading (mainly, high prices) daily, which is why I strive for accuracy.

As a lifelong collector I likewise strive to price items -LOW- , just the way that most collectors want them to be.

Communication
I strive to communicate quickly.

Shipping
Items are carefully packaged and shipped the same day that payment is made.

Grading and Sales Philosophy
Whether as an individual collector or as a retailer, my philosophy is the same, and what follows below is basic, boilerplate stuff:

Why no international sales?
Several reasons; Please scroll to the very bottom of my profile to learn why.

Why do you only accept PayPal?
Just as I lack the time to haggle, I lack the time to process involved financial transactions, and I’ve found PayPal as quick and hassle-free as it gets.

Why no free shipping?
Some online retailers can make free shipping work, but as low-quantity seller I simply cannot.

Media Mail shipping
My shipping prices are equivalent to or lower than USPS Media Mail rates.

"Why can't you ship before I pay?"
My prices are fair, but I will not pack and ship an item before a buyer has paid for the order which they have placed. Sorry.

A Note On Seam-Splitting
See: https://www.discogs.com/forum/thread/741499

While I do not sell sealed items, I have always packaged vinyl outside of the outer sleeve in order to prevent seam-splitting; My packaging method is described in Shipping details.

I'm in favor of un-sealing a sealed item prior to shipping, whereby the item can be inspected for flaws, and re-packed outside of the sleeve in order to minimize the chances of seam-splitting occurring during shipping.

Items are professionally packaged
I've sold, packaged, and shipped hundreds of items in recent years with only the following two problems (both to foreign buyers): (1) Postal carrier couldn't deliver as package was mis-directed (2) Buyer didn't want to pay VAT.

In each case the record was returned to me no worse for the wear. If I can package a record for international sale and have it return to me in the same shape it was in when I shipped it, I can certainly package a record for shipping in the U.S.!

Why Media Mail?
Media Mail has proven both cost effective and reliable, and items shipped using this method in most cases arrive as quickly (sometimes faster) than a similar item shipped First Class.

If you prefer First Class or another method, please let me know when you place your order.

Grading
I adhere to the standard described here: http://www.goldminemag.com/collector-resources/record-grading-101

I grade accurately, thoroughly describing vinyl and label condition, as well as condition of inner and outer sleeve. I do NOT sell sealed records as even one experience selling and shipping vintage vinyl with issues (warp, other) was one too many.

I grade accurately and prefer not to sell items of a condition less than VG, as I want those buying from me to be happy with a decent, playing copy at a fair price.

Thoughts on Condition
VG+ vinyl is the best every day shape you'll find, with NM (sometimes “Fine” or “EX") being less common. It’s very uncommon to find a Mint record that is worth a lot, and I very rarely sell those because they are so rare!

Visual vs. Audible Grading
I have been collecting for many decades, and in some cases (example: duplicate record) have never played a record. In those instances where I list an item for sale but have -not- listened to it, I will let the buyer know in the description -- example: "vinyl looks unplayed."

Altogether I endeavor to grade accurately and price fairly, so if you have a question about an item please feel free to ask.

Final Notes
I scrutinize items in my personal collection no less than I do those which I sell at retail, and endeavor to grade and price fairly and package-to-ship with the expectation that an item will arrive at its destination in the very condition in which it has been listed.

I am an honest person, and not here to take undue advantage of either a first-time or regular buyer. Far from it! So if and when I have failed to state an accurate grade on an item in the initial sales description, I will happily accommodate the buyer who expected the item to be of higher grade.

Why no Foreign Sales?
1. Time to ship = too long.

It takes anywhere from one to six weeks for an item to arrive in e.g. Germany, when shipped from the U.S. This can understandably be a very long wait for some buyers - even when the item is a low-priced one.

2. Cheap item + VAT = expensive item.

Basically, shipping from the U.S.A. to e.g. the E.U. is EXPENSIVE. When the shipping cost is added to the item value at point of entry (item value, “Gift" or not, is placed on the Customs form I must fill out when shipping) and VAT is added on top, suddenly one of my "cheap" records is no longer cheap!

On one occasion a foreign buyer refused to accept an LP which they had purchased from me as the added-on fees made the item too expensive, meaning I had to eat the cost of shipping (e.g. $30 USD), refund their purchase, and pay a PayPal reversal fee. This experience was a BIG waste of my time and money.

If you live in the E.U., for the most part you can easily find an item similar in price and condition to one I have listed for sale, and this of course means you'll pay a lower shipping price than what I can offer from the U.S. to you.

If you absolutely MUST buy from me, in other words you can't find the same item in your own country or region, you can contact me and we can work it out. I have done this in the past, and typically, I will send an item via Media Mail to a friend of the foreign buyer, who will then re-package the record and arrange shipping to the buyer themselves.

Yes, I know this is troublesome for the buyer (and I am truly sorry for it), but I will no longer "eat" the cost of shipping (plus a PayPal fee reversal) when a buyer chooses to refuse an item at their local postal branch.

At any rate --and also considering the low cost of Media Mail shipping within the U.S.-- I have chosen to sell and ship to buyers who reside in the U.S., ONLY, into the foreseeable future.
