Thanks - that info from Tom backs up what I said earlier, in terms of the chronology.

From the Vince Aletti book:

Helplessly (Roulette 7") release date March 8th, 1975
So much for love (Salsoul 12") release date July 10th, 1976

It's possible but in my opinion unlikely. Remember in 1975/76 the hottest disco sounds coming out were sounding pretty stale a year later because the genre was booming and changing so quickly. They were rushing to release new disco tracks as soon as... See full review

Hi Don,
The Clyde Brown 12" acetate was never a US vinyl 12". There are two "missing" catalogue numbers in the Atlantic DSKO series - DSKO 55 and DSKO 57 - I suspect, but can't prove, that the Clyde Brown was one of these that never made the Vinyl... See full review

Unlikely. The first promo 12" vinyl disco single is well documented (for example in Vince Aletti's book) to be Frankie Valli - Swearin' To God, in April 1975.

There were a few 12" disco acetates released before this, for example these:
Clyde Brown (4) - You Call Me Back
The Armada Orchestra - Cochise
and many... See full review

I am certain that rumour is incorrect. The first MK-series promos were from 1972-1973, several years before Ralph Carter recorded this track.

E.g.:
Jerry Lee Lewis - A Jerry Lee Lewis Radio Special
Burt Reynolds - A Burt Reynolds Radio Special

I think the lists floating around on the internet that state that MK-1 was the... See full review
