Matias Ibañez made his hobby of trading records his life when he founded Discos Edison’s on May 10th, 1979 in the heart of el Raval, Barcelona. He once had three shops, two on Riera Baixa and one on Tallers, but as time went by he decided to stick with just one. In 2013 he sold the shop and retired.

The current owner is originally from England and grew up in Eastern Canada. She moved from Montreal to Barcelona in 2004 and went into teaching and translating. Music in almost any form has always been a part of her life.

Discos Edison’s is not only about selling second-hand music and film in hard copy; it’s about joining collectors and artists of all styles, origins and ages in a friendly environment. In the last two and a half years we have collaborated with over 100 local artists, and consider proposals from artists, musicians, DJs and causes near and far.

Edison’s has a wide variety of music and film. We’re constantly rescuing records from storage. Although we’re not currently buying much, when we do, we go for what our clients are after.

The shop itself has masses of vinyl (7”, 10”, 12” & LPs), CDs, cassettes, VHS & DVDs which are slowly being catalogued. At the moment there is no online shop in the works, but once we’ve sorted through what we have in stock, we might set one up. WARNING: It will take some time.

Meanwhile, check out our Facebook page, where we sometimes upload samples of what we have in stock. Even better, forget the internet and pay us a visit to see for yourself. We open from Monday to Saturday from 13:00 to 21:00, and on Sundays from 12:00 to 18:00.
