It's interesting how people forget how much crap Dilla got back in the 90's for those last two Tribe albums. Personally, I love them, and his work on both is stellar. But I'm glad heads are coming around to these. All Tribe albums have so much to ... See full review

This mix by Premo has most every subterranean banger from the mid-90's. "Properties Of Steel", "Head Over Wheels," "Change," "Too Complex," "Metal Thangs", and "Shine"...the indie hip-hop scene circa this era was un-fucking-touchable and incredibly ... See full review

Whole album is a fucking BANGER that still continues to get overlooked. "Danger" was the only huge hit from this, but the album itself is front-to-back solid as hell. Not reinventing the wheel, but confident and solid as hell. Far from a one-hit wonder; ... See full review

An incredibly slept-on album. Heather is a very talented MC, and the production from KRS's brother/BDP-mainstay Kenny Parker is incredibly on-point. I always adored "All Glocks Down," and it still hits as hard for me in 2017 as it did back in 1996. Same ... See full review

Nah, I think it was all edited, much like EPMD's Business Never Personal released the same year.

I like those, I would've just preferred to have all the tracks thrown together. Can't front on Da Graveyard with Finesse, Jay-Z, and Grand Daddy I.U. holding it down with L.

RSD at this point is a shitshow of overpriced reissues and novelties, but every year, there's a gem or two among the $35 picture-disc editions of the Cocktail soundtrack or whatever other dollar-bin record the majors are trying to mark-up. This right ... See full review

CRUCIAL reissue. Every track goes HARD. Still love how Schoolly would rhyme and drum out the beat on the sampler simultaneously. All the way live, for real.

So when's Get On Down or Traffic or someone going to reissue this with billion remixes and the immortal "Hard Like A Criminal"? I can't be the only one who needs this in his life.

Yeah, most of these tracks got their own separate 12" releases. Collect 'em all....

Worth it for the bonus 12" version of "Baby You Nasty," but please note that there is a pressing defect during "Track The Movement" where there is some very noticeable glitching/clipping during parts of the last verse.

Very much a slow-burning grower, particularly if you were previously taken by the untouchable Runaway Slave (in the running for one of my favorite hip-hop albums ever). On Goodfellas, the atmosphere is much, much darker, dustier, and colder. Show has ... See full review

A sleeper gem, Diamond D's second album is all about those rich, heavy beats, which overwhelmingly do not disappoint. The man himself still holds his own on the mic, though he does sound a bit subdued and exhausted, possibly because of the label drama he ... See full review

An absolute classic record that still gets way too overlooked all these years later. O.C. was an exceptionally talented MC, on par with all of the lyrical heavy-hitters (Nas, the Wu guys, Organized Konfusion) of that era. The man oozed confidence, a ... See full review

For whatever reason, I just found out in the past week about the differing versions of "Ga Head" depending on the pressing. I've owned a Columbia House version since the 90's, and it has the "alternate" shorter version with the tweaked beat. Somehow the ... See full review

A bit of a missed opportunity with this one. Starts out strong, but then goes kinda off the rails for the second half. While you have gems like "Metrotheme," Pete Rock's "Priceless," and the classic Premo banger "The Actual," the b-side features way too ... See full review

Yeah, I had a tape copy back in the day with the bonus remixes, and "Mecca" was definitely the one from the EP. I figured All Souled Out had the "WIg Out Mix" that I had heard in the video, so I was really confused/disappointed when it was the same ... See full review
