Is it only my copy, or is this pressing noticeably bad sounding? Low volume, muddy, lacking clarity? I can barely hear any other instruments in “The Obvious Child” besides the drums. Trying to determine whether the previous owner trashed it, or if maybe ... See full review

[quote=target25] Which kind of release is this one? If it is the 1st US mono pressing on black labels, it still exists on discogs DB. Otherwise, the release date 1956 is not correct. Needs to correct the date and specify the complete and correct release ... See full review

Anyone have a photo of the label on this? And does it include a reproduction of the 1990 insert?

Thanks. (You just know there's some dude who worked at the pressing plant 25 years ago who could explain this.)

Actually, to partially answer my question, the matrix numbers differ. i will add them to this listing when I have a spare moment.

That's what I was about to ask. So the matrix on this one is different? I just picked up a ... See full review

I understand that the rights owners successfully sued (at least according to them) over this reissue, so Discogs may have its hands tied—but this is a gorgeous 180-gram release drawn from the original master tapes, with extensive liner notes and the ... See full review

Yup, mine too. Doesn’t necessarily feel worth creating a whole new version here, though. Or am I just being lazy?

No runouts are listed for this version, but my copy has these:
Side A: DC-69-A GOLDEN L-43990 36975
Side B: DC-69-B GOLDEN L-43990-X 36976
There's no "CONSTRUCTIVE MELANCHOLY" or other telltale sign from the runouts listed for either the ... See full review

Is there really any difference between this version and https://www.discogs.com/Wilco-Being-There/release/810376 ? Identical matrix/runouts, and it seems the barcodes were just interpreted differently. I'm not so sure that paper vs. poly sleeves is ... See full review

Beautiful record, but is it just my copy or is this vinyl pressing super noisy, especially the first couple songs on each side? It almost overpowers this very quiet music.

Thanks! Super helpful. I wonder if there was a point in the release history when they stopped printing those, given their apparent scarcity.

A few listings of this first Petty record mention an insert, but none of the photos (for any version, whether Shelter, ABC, MCA, etc.) show one. Was there an insert on this? Or are they mistaken, or was it maybe a press kit/promo thing?

My copy is identical to this one, including the tannish-green labels and no bar code, but the matrix/runout also includes the Big Cat UK identifiers, lightly scratched out. Side A, etched: ABB 56 A2 MPO / Side B, etched: ABB 56 B2 DROP D TO INFINITY MPO. ... See full review
