This album is a lot of fun, with no duds. Fans of the talkbox will appreciate the often-hilarious use of said device here. High-energy, but not Hi-NRG.

"Somewhere to Lay My Head" was covered by the Wailers on Studio 1. This version is a rockin' 2/4 screamer. "A Christian Life" is a bluesy harmonyfest that goes from rubato to 3/4 time, with more uplifting screamin'.

You want gutwrenching? This is your record. Both sides are bleed-all-over-the-wax ballads, the A-side in 6/4 time, the B-side a 4/4 funk ballad. The chord progression on the flip is nothing less than severe, and it sounds like she's actually crying on ... See full review

Both sides must have been recorded during the same sessions as This Year's Model -- every instrument sounds straight off that particular meisterwerk.

Which version has this mix? All the releases say House, but this is not what I'd call house:

Some momentary dropouts, probably due to the excitement of the moment.

Sustained note at end of "Wave a White Flag" cuts off abruptly. "Cheap Reward" beginning is cut off -- starts when Elvis is singing, "...might fall to pieces." "Hoover Factory" last chord ends abruptly. "Really Mystified," the best version I've ever ... See full review

The most underrated album I know. Absolutely gorgeous music. Hilarious, life-affirming vocals by Malcolm and some really heartbreaking vocal performances by all the others. "Miles and Miles of Miles Davis" has a trumpet melody taken from Erik Satie's ... See full review

"Peace Maker" is actually "President Kennedy." Or vice versa, depending on your perspective.

Incorrect track listing, e.g., "Ole Sole Mio" appears where "Flavia" should be.

Amen to Unspoken's request. We vinyl DJs need it to rock the party properly.

A-side is really Enos McLeod singing "I've Made Up My Mind."
Anybody know who's singing the alternate version on the B-side? It isn't Michael Rose either.

Armed Forces Radio Show broadcasts.
Unsteady sound source and/or pressing makes for wobbly intonation until 'Main Stem,' at which point the speed seems to even out a little.
Each show starts with a brief excerpt of "Take the 'A' Train." Side 2 ends with ... See full review
