MR BOOGIE a.k.a THE VINYL JUNKIE
DJ/RECORD COLLECTOR/PROMOTER/PR/SOCIAL MEDIA
Born in Paris to Ugandan parents, Mr Boogie grew up between France and West Africa before finally settling in the UK as a teenager. Having also spent some time in New York as well as Cuba, his unique upbringing helped to shape his broad and eclectic musical tastes.
Mr Boogie is also the co-founder of Soulsa ® Productions, a London-based music events promotion & management company that was established in 2005. Soulsa ® is primarily focused on the classic sounds of Black & Latin New York.
Besides holding down a selection of monthly DJ residencies, Mr Boogie also hosts a weekly music show on Shoreditch Radio called Melting Pot: http://www.mixcloud.com/meltingpot

Perdido (which means 'lost' in Spanish) has incorrectly been spelt 'Perdito'. It's a Jazz standard that was originally written and composed by Juan Tizol - a Puerto Rican trombonist and composer who played in Duke Ellington's band.

In response to the notes, Jaime was the name given to him by his Puerto Rican parents. Growing in East Harlem, New York however, he chose to anglicise his name to Jimmy.

I don't mind contemporary artists sampling great tracks from the past...so long as they do it well. 'Sing About It' is an ab-so-lu-te monster reworking of an old classic 70s Brazilian hit from Burnier & Cartier called 'Mirandolina'.

The late Chano Pozo (1915 - 1948) is arguably the greatest conga player Cuba has ever produced. Some of his compositions like Manteca and *Guachi Guara (both co-written with Dizzy Gillespie) have long been Latin Jazz standards.
