Profile
I started out here to catalog my vinyl collection, working on CDs now, although I still have several hundred LPs to catalog. I'm not really here to sell music, but I do have a few things listed for sale, mostly doubles or releases I don't need in my collection. If there's something you're interested in, send me a message with your offer, and I'll consider it.
I do my best to follow the guidelines, especially this one:
RSG §1.7.1. "The general principle of entering information into Discogs is to reflect what is written on the release as much as possible."
RSG §12.2.7 "For side identification, please use A, B, etc." This refers to tracklisting only.
RSG §14.1.4 "Valid information should never be removed from a submission. If there is valid information in the wrong field, it should be moved to the correct field, not deleted."
RSG §5.2.c refers to Matrix/Runout info and makes no mention of Side A/B.
RSG §5.9 "The description field can be used to add any further information regarding the identifier, such as the identifier type, any descriptive text associated with it, its location on the release or anything else that seems significant."
Otherwise RSG §1.7.1 "The general principle of entering information into Discogs is to reflect what is written on the release as much as possible." should be followed.
My blurb for those who tell me that using the actual side designation in Matrix /runout is incorrect:
Side designation is as per guidelines. RSG §5.2.c refers to Matrix/Runout info and makes no mention of side designation. RSG 5 goes further to state (RSG §5.9) "The description field can be used to add any further information regarding the identifier, such as the identifier type, any descriptive text associated with it, its location on the release or anything else that seems significant."
The RSG for tracklisting (RSG §12.2.7) states "For side identification, please use A, B, etc." This refers to tracklisting only.
Otherwise RSG §1.7.1 "The general principle of entering information into Discogs is to reflect what is written on the release as much as possible." should be followed. Thereby the data here is entered correctly per the guidelines. Thanks.
Cheers!
