There was a fouth track from the same studio recording session as 'Trying To Get Next To You', called 'Is It Real Love' - i really hope Leroy Hutson will grant a licence to someone and get this superb track released onto a 45 - best track from that session imo.

Sometimes demand and rarity takes over from condition and price and you just gotta have it, or wait a very long time for another.

Rare single that sold for $500 back in 2018. Funky rendition of Rod Stewarts pop hit, but the sweetness comes on the b-side with a great 2 step killer 'Hypnotized' - essential 45

It's looking rather ominous for genuine collectors who seem to of been replaced by speculators who think vinyl is on a par with oil and gold and investing heavily in artificially inflating prices. It's acceptable to increase on previously sold item by a reasonable margin, but now we are seeing outrageous amounts being asked for certain records specifically in the funk / soul genre. Lets hope those who fall for it don't end up with an a record they will never recoup money on should they come to re sell it in the future.

Solar Plex was an unknown soul/funk group. The members of the group were probably Bill Williams, Vance Roque and bassist Victor Purvis. All these guys were previous members of the funk group Full Force. They released a single entitled "Why did you walk away / Party hearty" on White Brothers Records in 1981. Robert and Alphonso White were the owners. ref RPS

Unless Mexican Pesos are the currency of choice, here another album becomes victim of speculative attack! Beware of sellers putting ridiculous valuations on a record like this one in the vain hope some fool will come along thinking it's worth the money. Always do your research before committing and later regretting a purchase.

Great little two stepper in need of more attention, 'nasty' lyrics, an unwavering solid beat, tempered with a background of strings, saxophone and female chant.

I'm afraid this is what genuine collectors and lovers of the music are up against, a site with some sellers dedicated to inflating prices at every opportunity. Discogs has become quite Elitist, and some sellers will put on a ridiculous price and just wait for those with the cash to buy. If some big time dealer or DJ start pushing a particular tune at an event then already the price go's high, and if people don't have their own personality, they're ready to drop crazy amounts.

Ultra rare 7 incher by Jeffery Dixon and Belinda Elias. They were unknown singers which collaborated and recorded two songs entitled "We can see it through together" and "Why can't this time be for real ?". Both of them released on Jady Records in 1982 from California.Produced by himself. Arranged by Carl Evans Jr and Edwin Sicat. - ref. Rare Philly Sax

There are a couple of things to say about this perception. I agree with you in part that there are those dealers/speculators out there and some well known dealers in fact who are dedicated to pushing up prices which is bad for collectors who have a genuine love for the music. As for this record in particular, this is a very rare deep roots tune with a similar rhythm to 'Queen of the Nile' by Crasher which sells around the same price and grows on you after a few plays and that maybe reflected in the valuation, the other side of the argument is that there is no set prices on old and used records and the value is whatever a person is prepared to pay for it, bearing in mind that the prices of collectable records will only increase, so from an investment pov you have to buy when they become available because you can bet the next time it comes up the price will be even higher, which is good for commision based sites like Discogs/eBAY and sellers, but not so good for buyers.

A superb production and vocal arrangement gives this one off creation it's unique sound. Toast hail from NYC on the Charm City Records, not the other label of the same name who are based in (Baltimore) - Unfortunately, this 1983 release suffers from it's own rarity, now commands 4 figure sums.
