Sounds as good as my OG LA Capitol. The KENDUN lacquers and Santa Maria press can’t hurt. Clear and as bass heavy as you would expect from the band. Nice pressing!

Like my experiences with all 70s Rolling Stones boxed Decca’s they sound great and are a great value. No need to get an unboxed unless having OGs is important to you or in this case you want the original sleeve which is substantial in this case.

If you are going to get those originals then get the German 1st presses which are superior to the very good US RLs. The vinyl generally tends to be cleaner, too. The Cry of Love in particular is outstanding.
I would agree the latest BG First Rays... See full review

These Capitol Wally mastered represses from 1987-1988 although they are digital sound great. Might be a great substitute for the 2014 mono or an original UK press but it looks like these are starting to get scarce, too. It is another option for this... See full review

Get an early UK and listen to that and you will have a major revelation. If you thought this one was good … it pretty much is the same for all UK v. US Capital as the US was 2nd generation tape, UK the master.

This is THE BEST Edition of this I have to include the original RL which is also very good. The vinyl is better and has an incredible clarity and thump to it all through the album. I have had great success with the German 1st editions from Electric... See full review

I think a repress as there is no change to the content except the cover. If the vinyl was changed in any way then reissue. Unless you consider it a reissue for the change in the cover? I don’t know if I helped or confused things more!

Sound is not bad but a bit muted. Better than the 2018 but not close to the 1973 original LA press which is clearly my best but the new 50th gold hangs with it. The Picture Disc looks great. I guess if you are looking for an audiophile record you... See full review

No doubt the FrenchBarclay is the best mono and I was surprisingly impressed by a 1967 US Mono Terre Haute. Can’t comment on the earlier UK Tracks monos. Never heard any of them. I thought this one not bad at all but not up to those I just... See full review

I just did a shoot off between this, the 2017 mono box set edition and a 2001 Sundazed mono. The hard panned vocals and guitar on the right and horns on the left was hard to get by, especially when I listened to the box set mono just after it which... See full review

I have many different editions of this album, mono and stereo, as this is a desert island album for me. I have found this edition my go to mono copy, including the MOFI. I tend to like the MOFI stereo better than it’s mono sister album. You can’t... See full review

At what it would take to buy the MOFI now, I don’t know what sense it would make to buy it unless this is one of your desert island albums and you have the $ to do it. I am sure it is great but $200+ v. $30 for a good copy of this one which I agree... See full review

I have to disagree with the prior reviewer that this original UK stereo is as poorly recorded as noted. I, too, have the Sundazed mono (which I love) and the MoFI 45s and SACD. I will have to do a shootout but I can’t remember having this positive... See full review

I had a 2008 Wes Garland National pressed (this one) which also was good and did stumble on a Kevin Gray, who cut the lacquers. It likely Bob Irwin mastered it as it is a Sundazed and I hear Bob is connected to the Columbia Sony people. Sounds... See full review

No it sounds great - my go to copy. Beats MOFI and hands down (which is saying a lot). Original is great, too, and might be more affordable at this point if you are looking to buy this album for the first time. It was a well recorded album.

You are kidding me right? I ecco what other reply indicated all around. Of the many copies I have this is my go to. I play it much more than the MOFI and only play the original near as much. Must be your copy or your set up.

Never hurts when Kevin Gray does the mastering. Did a good job when you compare to the original which was not the greatest and a bit muddy. It is my go to copy for the album although I admit I don’t have the AP mastered by Ryan Smith.

What you have stated about the originals is exactly why I won’t be buying the new Analogue Productions vinyl at $150 a pop. I have gotten the first two SACDs so far and they sound great but $35 vs. $150 with VG+ 1st releases for each is overkill. I... See full review
