According to the Now Again Instagram feed, the working title of this set of demos was ‘The Name Of The Terrain’, and Denny Zeitlin has shut down any prospect of these recordings being officially released…

The live cuts on this album are unbelievable examples of Mike Bloomfield's guitar playing. His phasing and tone are second to none, and Moon Tune in particular is incendiary. The songs with horn parts are reminiscent of Electric Flag. Well worth seeking out! See full review

This is simply an incredible album, Memphis Slim's piano playing, singing and songwriting are first rate, and Matt 'Guitar' Murphy absolutely kills on this session. Note that while copies of this album may have a stereo sticker affixed to the cover,... See full review

My copy of this version is quite thrashed (many scratches), but none the less seems to be mastered at a very low level. Poor sound quality throughout, practically impossible to listen to.

An amazing comp from Solid Smoke Records that displays the genius of Ollie McLaughlin, one of the most prolific producers and label owners in Detroit soul history, though he was based in Ann Arbor. The track selection here is superb, with deep soul cuts from Belita Woods,... See full review
