Ah yeah. Did not notice that. I should say that is likely identical SONICALLY. Thank you, good sir!

Sounds great. If indeed still a Kevin Gray cut, then it is SONICALLY identical to the 2017 press. As noted below, the 2017 version was pressed at RTI and was graced with a tip-on sleeve. If that isn't important to you, then go for this pressing.

Should note for anyone who might care: if you ordered from Zeno your copy will not arrive factory sealed with the Record Store Day hype sticker. It is merely housed in a clear sleeve with an adhesive seal. Everything else remains the same if you... See full review

The mastering is superb and probably the same as it has been since it was last remastered. That surprises me given how many times this thing has been repressed. Only complaint is that the disc itself is a little noisy at times. No real reason to have... See full review

I noticed the sibilant vocals as well. It's not grating by any means and sounded like a source issue. Did older pressings suffer from the same?

This guy is so up his own arse on many listings. He's better off locked away on the Hoffman forums. I believe I once read a comment on a fairly decent budget pressing of Big Star's Radio City saying "This is clearly for those who have 100 dollar or... See full review

Can anyone recommend specific pressings of the first two albums? I have some earlier copies that are plagued with god awful sibilance and it doesn't seem to be a simple matter of wear and tear.

Just checked my blue/black marble copy. Sterling stamp is in the dead wax. Should be the case for this one too!

Haven't heard an original but I'm sure you're not wrong. I do like that the disc is flat and the pressing is (for the most part) surface noise free. The master is a little tame and safe, but this is not bad at all for a reissue. You won't feel burned... See full review

I'll agree with moveceo. It's maddening but par for the course when listening to music on vinyl. I have records that others complain about that sound great on my setup and then of course the opposite is true for other releases. Try to find a stylus... See full review

That would be Bakithi Kumalo. According to my coworker, this musical partnership came to be when Paul went to South Africa in spite of an anti-Apartheid boycott. Not to suggest Paul Simon was pro Apartheid. Quite the opposite.

This mastering on this reissue sounds furiously good! Play at 45RPM and crank it (not that the mastering is too quiet: you're just required to blow your ear drums)!

I'm going to wake up tomorrow, read this and cringe.

Had the exact problem MrWordsWorth had with the I Love You reissue, but strangely not this one. Must have been a hell of a day at the pressing plant to produce such inconsistency. This one is gonna be a crapshoot. Just beware of the pressing issues noted. See full review

You're likely correct. Touch and Go is pretty good about indicating a remaster. Kind of a bummer. Same thing for the track list. Nothing new about this except the artwork and the colored vinyl. Meh.

Everyone has an opinion on record store day that's slightly different. I've always found it fascinating. For me, the thing I hate most about it is how unprofitable it ends up being for record stores. Ironic in the worst way.

So good! They had a few copies left at a shop today. Never understood why this EP is generally panned. Killer hooks, full sound, even some pretty harmonies.

I'll talk non-flipper related business (hiss hiss at those fellas for sure) and get to the record itself: unless you're a die-hard like me, you likely don't need this release since all of it has been previously released in some form over the years.... See full review

I assume this is basically the same thing as the Eternal Yip Eye pressing with the exception of the extras. Of course, being a huge fan this might be worth it. Any thoughts if you already have a copy?

You just gave me a good idea for a vinyl-themed horror film. "THE RECORD THAT WARPED ITSELF."
"Most horrifying film I've ever seen...And I noticed a little bit of sibilance in the dialogue." Big shot on Steve Hoffman forum.

I'd say they obtained "licenses" through questionable means and loopholes. That's probably why it's listed as unofficial. If only that same logic applied to some of these so called "boutique" reissue labels in the U.S.
