LP is super quiet. Looks like others have stated the same. Wonder why the levels are so low???

Anybody know if this 2019 version uses the same masters from the 2014/2016 reissues, which were allegedly done from the original tapes?

They emailed us directly about the issues. I received my replacement Dexter jacket and Wayne Shorter corrected A/B centered label vinyl today.

I mean original pressings, from 1965. The Japanese pressing are excellent, indeed.

The only copies of this particular pressing that are numbered, are the ones that were released exclusively on RSD 2013. Up until a few years ago, this limited RSD version had gone out of print. Fortunately, for those that did not get a copy on RSD, it ... See full review

Hang on to all your original pressings of this record!!! As you probably know by now, UMG lost all of the impulse master tapes, along with thousands and thousands of other artists and labels, in a massive fire back in 2008, and managed to keep it hidden ... See full review

Wow. "Night in Tunisia" sounds incredible. Wayne Shorter's sax sounds like it's going to physically fall out of my speaker, it's that life like. It's dimensional. I can honestly say, I've never quite heard anything like this before.

Agreed. I actually went back and had a look at the price again, and I was mistaken. They had it for $33. Regardless, I still recommend that people not pay more than $35-$40 for this.

You are correct. If you have a receiver that has a Mono switch or button, you’ll want to engage it. Also, if you have a Mono cartridge, you’ll obviously want to use that. If you don’t have a Mono cartridge, using the Mono feature on your ... See full review

Almost forgot about the lack of the advertised “Foil stamping”. Instead, I got a number written directly on the back of the box in what looks to be silver marker. Really?

Honestly, for $230, or whatever it was, is it too difficult to ask that the labels for Horace Silver Trio are indeed accurate?? That's just plain amateur, especially when you bring in a prestigious label like Blue Note. No way in hell that Blue Note's ... See full review

Thanks for the thorough review. I have an original, and have yet to acquire this 20th anniversary edition. I believe there’s a 25th anniversary edition as well that appeared in 2017. I’m assuming it’s the same masters as the 2012 pressing.

Did this not get released yet? On the Blue Note Tone Poet page is lists Friday 4/26/19 as the release date. None of my local record stores received it, and told me they were seeing a release of 5/17 or 5/18. Amazon doesn't have it listed for sale, and as ... See full review

Yep. You hit the nail on the head with your assessment. Dynamics are very poor and this particular pressing has a fair amount of surface noise as well. This was the early 90s, when the vinyl format was supposedly on its way out, and CD was the format king.

Fantastic release. These Tone Poet reissues are absolutely incredible, so far. Looking to getting the rest as they're released.

It's really simple fix for stopping these flippers. Don't buy from them. People have got to stop forking out ridiculous amounts of money for these records. As long as people keep dropping this kind of cash, the flippers will continue to rip them off. ... See full review

Definitely needs a better turntable, cartridge, etc. This remaster is nearly flawless. Dynamic, detailed midrange, punchy lows, and the highs are very detailed, but also rounded off a bit, which keeps them from being too harsh. Unless you don't ... See full review

To be more specific, the inner sleeves that came with this album, are HDPE, otherwise known as “High Density Polyethylene”. Not PVC.
posted a comment on Heaven & Hell (2) - The Devil You Know. 4 months ago
Right. But the sleeves that came with this record, are not PVC sleeves, they’re poly sleeves. Not sure where these people got the idea that these are PVC.
posted a comment on Heaven & Hell (2) - The Devil You Know. 4 months ago
Poly Inner sleeves are anti-static and will not scratch or damage your records. Paper sleeves are the worst inner sleeve you can put your records in. You're guaranteed to get paper scuffs, which will eventually degrade the record. Not sure where you got ... See full review
