Thank you Lisa, there is no question that some of Dominic's work is being celebrated and very much still supported by some forward-thinking DJs as we speak. Sorry for your loss.
Side Effect - Always There

One of the best 45 RPM 12" pressings from that time, with a special and very fancy promo-only jacket artwork. A must-have for any collector whose interest lies in early DJ promo artifacts.
Patrice Rushen - Kickin' Back / What's The Story (Disco Version)

Somewhat unappreciated jazzy twofer that remains a personal favorite from the hallowed mid-70's US jazz-funk era. The artwork alone makes this a very collectible piece, but [i](as with other promo-only Fantasy releases from their DJ series with custom... See full review

Not sure why this record is in mono, but it feels as if the mixes would sound even better with some spread... error in mastering?
Regis - Unreleased Projects

This is pretty good though... raw-sounding and not making any compromises. Has aged well.
Innerzone Orchestra - Bug In The Bassbin

This particular version is quite abstract and very deep, providing the listener with an experience which will last a long time way beyond specific trends. Very under-rated, and a bargain today.

"Ow#1" Hypnotic and moody electronics that leave the soul yearning for more of the same sort of vibes. Classic!

As the photo indicates, confirming that the labels are mis-printed. Side A is listed as "Can't Stop Rasta Now" (when in fact it's "Rain & Fire") and side B is listed as "Version" (when in fact it's "Can't Stop Rasta Now")

Let it be said that this package is absolutely awesome. Twenty years later and it doesn't seem to have aged one bit, in fact in some ways it sounds better.

This collection should be highly recommended to anyone who's serious about being a Drum&Bass... See full review

Powerful and truly essential album for the times we are living through. It's a living example of works that dis-spell the notion that music is just a bunch of beats and patterns put together on some software program, and its message reaches deep into... See full review

Terrific album, some real sleeper cuts on there. As others have commented, one can wonder why this was never re-issued digitally.
Grover Washington, Jr. - Mister Magic

"Earth Tones" is so psychedelic, a pretty spectacular groove propelled by Harvey Mason's tight drumming, Bob James' liquid Fender Rhodes and Phil Upchurch playing mean bass. A star-studded cast of musicians here! Any serious jazz-funk collection... See full review
Lace - Can't Play Around

This version here is the one to get, it is the pressing that has the longer 6:21 dub that includes the vocals at the end. If this is what you're after, do not buy copies of this promo pressing that have two mixes on the B-side. Make sure there... See full review
Lace - Can't Play Around

Clarifying matters, the catalog number may be the same on this issue, but the instrumental version on the B-side is shorter here and therefore less desirable than Lace - Can't Play Around (promo). The way to tell is that this pressing contains two versions on the... See full review

Everyone probably went straight for the A side remix of "Victory", and it's lovely indeed. But don't sleep on that B-side "Stealth", it's actually devastating. Lethal dark groove.... Big up to Dubkasm!

Devastating record in the right hands. One of the late 90s defining 'deep techno' records that seem to be all the rage now, it never grows old. Just be careful as many pressings appear to have a fair amount of surface noise.

This or the US promo Chic - Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah) are the ones to get... the sound is so crisp and punchy, the Atlantic pressing always felt so weak and less defined.

Revisiting this track got me thinking that this is where James Murphy's LCD Sound System got their inspiration for the bass line on "Losing My Edge"... We'll never know, but it certainly feels plausible.

Surface noise is so awful and constant on this particular 1981 pressing. Oh, and it's off-center too. The UK Lightning pressings are usually pretty good, so any buyer would be advised to go with these instead.

Such an incredibly underrated release. I also concur that "Happy Music" is the more endearing one of the two, but both are stellar. Guaranteed to brighten up your day.

In case someone wants to have a superior-sounding version of "Soul Makossa" on vinyl, this pressing seems to beat everything else by much when it comes to quality, low noise, crisp highs, good bottom and generally great mastering at 45 RPM.
