Two discs isn't a double album? Wow I didn't know that. Thanks for clearing this up! So stoked.

Did it need a vinyl release? Or a physical release at all? Did they need to record the music? Depending on whom you ask...you might get a no to each of these questions. Have a happy!

It sounds killer over here. Someone needs to change out their entire setup tbh. lololololol

5 years ago I snagged one of these factory sealed on eBay for $40. The seller thought it was the reissue. It sounds incredible! Highly recommended seeking it out, it's still pricey but not as bad as it used to be.

Nope, they're exactly the same on the outside. The only pressing with any outside identification is the Columbia Record Club edition.

The "digital sound" you're picking up isn't because they digitally captured but futzed around with frequency filtering. That's the main culprit. There are plenty of digitally captured releases that were left well alone and sound fantastic. Of course a... See full review

[quote=VincentPresley] Vinyl doesn't hold as much audio as a CD. Unless you run a garbage label like Plain, Cleopatra, or Nettwerk where you just cram over 30 minutes of audio on each side. No pressing place in the world will tell you that's okay to... See full review

The new side D runout says Trutone Mastering NY. Seems they recut that side for whatever reason.

Rainbo indeed doesn't press these anymore. United got all their equipment and some of their master discs, so it's possible they're pressing them now. I haven't seen any Rainbo represses with any new identifying information so it's super hard to tell... See full review

Rainbo Records closed and is no longer pressing these even if it has their numbers in the runouts. That probably accounts for better sounding discs! The current plant for US copies (not known) probably made a new side C stamper recently and omitted... See full review

Record thickness and thinness means nothing in regards to sound unless you're literally playing a flexi-disc type of thin. It sounds muffled toward the end of one side because that's the way it was cut.

These promotional stamped copies are extremely rare and fetch around 500 pounds on the used market.

I don't know, why get up and flip a record anyway? Why buy them? Why buy physical media discs at all when they can be downloaded losslessly and played with the push of a button?

Heads up, looks like another batch of these went out recently. They've been sold out for months locally, and one of my locations got some in. I grabbed the last copy this afternoon. Definitely not resealed or a customer return. Nice n fresh!

The album was recorded digitally. Those lossless files were used to cut the lacquer the vinyl was pressed with. There was no in-between step like a master prepared for CD (or digital download) being cut to vinyl how some releases are.

A year late but it's time to clear this up; the symbol is a shock hazard sign of French origin. I'd have to dig to find out who originally designed it but it's essentially a fair use symbol. Here's an example of it for sale here:... See full review

Mine isn't like that, thankfully. No fakery here! That said, Memphis Record Pressing is pretty hit or miss. They used to be pretty good. I'm gonna get the new Japanese release to replace mine even though my particular copy isn't garbage.

Weight varies on them. 180g records are a marketing gimmick. Thickness doesn't equate to better sound. Unless your discs are paper thin there's going to be no difference. If your copies sound great you're not missing out!

Just because they're similar doesn't mean the LP was "cut from the CD." There's a slight difference in dynamics between the two but not much. The CD isn't a brickwalled garble of nonsense anyway, which was pretty common then. Your observation is... See full review

Thickness doesn't matter all that much in regards to sound quality. All these heavy weight discs out there are a marketing gimmick. Some of the worst sounding discs I've ever heard were 180g and it had nothing to do with weight; they were just poorly pressed. See full review

The 2021 deluxe edition is just a reissue/repress of the 2018 analogue release. If you're hearing anything different it's placebo or your copy from 2018 wasn't good, which wouldn't surprise me considering it's Optimal.

They always used Rainbo and pretty sure uncredited United. I wouldn't be surprised if they shifted most production to them after they acquired all of Rainbo's stampers and equipment.

You got that backwards; the closer you get to the center the worse inner groove distortion gets. The fact that there's a wider space means they took care to make sure there wouldn't be such a defect. It should have probably been cut across 2 discs... See full review
