My copy is very slightly warped, but the sound is actually quite good and dynamic.

Great music, great mastering, good pressing, some pops on disc 2. Paper inner sleeves, obi around both sides of the gatefold.

Contrary to the widespread opinion about Impulse! releases with the "neon logo" this lp actually sounds quite good! Slightly better than Japanese editions from the 70s and very close to the original '68 stereo edition. To my ears at least.

Also stop buying gimicky color vinyl that sounds like ass. This is not some bubblegum-inspired twee-pop coffee shop band. This music sounds better on virgin black plates.

Beautiful album. Caterina has really matured as an artist on this one IMO.
Clean, nicely done pressing on black vinyl. No complaints about manufacturing quality. Sound is dynamic and crisp, if a bit over-compressed - but this is the nature of the music. |

Music is of course fantastic.
But as mentioned by other posters before - you need tone controls to be able to enjoy it. Also this is the only lp in my collection where I feel the need to add +5dB of bass. I wonder how the original sounds. |

Why press this on vinyl at all if the mastering is this bad? Tiny, dead, compressed sound with no depth or dynamic. Avoid paying for such reissues.

Avoid this pressing. It sounds bad. I'm not talking about surface noise or an occasional pop.
It's just mastered very badly. Sounds dull, muted, with no scale or dynamics. The brilliant music on this lp did not desrve such treatment. |
