I'm not concerned with "where the market is going".

Year 2000: "Vinyl has largely died a death".

Is anybody paying attention to the "parental advisory" and listening to it with their parents?
posted a comment on David Bowie - Heathen. about 1 month ago
Like the Outside album, for some reason Heathen has quite a few album variations, which can have considerably different track listings and even different versions of the tracks + higher quality and collectability. Here is a bit of an overview of some... See full review

Why the shortage of physical releases? Is Matthew avoiding the deathly fangs of the music industry, thwarted by the complex product placement rules, escaping the wrath of the sales and marketing department (S&M)? . . . who knows, but the public are... See full review

I like the Halcyon Digest album. It has some great tracks on which many have commented. Something deserves to be said about the cover artwork with its photograph by Atlanta Georgia photographer George Mitchell.

I've always had a special fondness for this single. The Let's Dance album created a sensation with the three main hits, China Girl, Let's Dance and Putting out Fire. Meanwhile this gem of a 7" snuck out with the TWO other fantastic tracks - and it is... See full review

About the video.

Born to Die, the song is pure genius. Every proper girl needs a tattooed boy by their side. The song coupled with the video of her journey through desire and the opulent, and perverse,... See full review

Check out Freak, video version 10:52:

Freak – it segues very strangely into Clair de Lune, she loves her polar juxtapositions. Shocking. The video represents the Jonestown Massacre of 900... See full review

It's worth looking at the video of Lana Del Rey’s National Anthem. It starts with a take on Monroe’s birthday greeting to the president, but it pans out to Lana singing to a black man (in grainy black and white). She then mixes into the video... See full review

To add . . .

I like the way Lana isn't relying on 'reinventing' herself through costume and characters. (Consider the multi characters of Bowie, Madonna and Gaga).

Lana is always smartly presented, good make up, clothes, no doubt Dollar is involved.... See full review

Moving on from Morghal's below comment, looks like we're heading for another vinyl rainbow (October 22, 2021). Red, white, yellow, black. Three different cover artworks. And little cassettes too. I’m hoping there will be a pen.

Bowie shouldn't be stuck in a genre like that. He is good at reflecting styles, but better at redefining and extending 'genres'. Dipping in, choosing elements to suit whatever project he is working on . . .

There are STRONG elements of jazz in... See full review

What is the cover image on this album?

I can kind of see "black antlers". But also I see a stiletto and a scrotum (or potato).

Is it a rorschach test?

There are some great JCRZ Pet SHop Boys mixes out there 'electronically'.

Why can't you get "official" JCRZ releases on physical format?

I've just ordered the hardocver too, the clear vinyl - and hope that is what I get.

If you ordered the hardcover you should contact the seller to ask them why you didn't get it - before they run out and can't replace your item.

Becoming Animal is a wonderful collection of new Sharp songs. Great to hear him singing again.

One of the songs appears on a good remix collection by Abul Mogard: for some reason the track is retitled "The Sky Is Ever Falling".

Does anybody know what this new cindytalk release is? Are they all totally new tracks? I notice the album name repeats the title of a track from The Crackle of My Soul.

Hopefully it won't be a Japan-only release.

Yuppers - it's the Warners promo and Discogs doesn't state it as an unofficial release - so it must be "official".

Banging way to start the album: with the 'strings'version of Siouxsie and the Banshee's Hong Kong Garden.

But it's best in its own place on the 7":

I love abstract art, but in an age where some abstract art can go by unnoticed, I prefer the minimal packaging of this promo of 100th window - and yep, at the time of writing this it is easily affordable (single figures in the UK).
