Profile

I listen to a wide variety of music. A strong base of my taste is Indie Eighties: Depeche Mode, Joy Division > New Order, Sinéad O'Connor, Comsat Angels, Cure, Siouxsie, ALL of pre-millennial 4AD (!!!), Björk, Killing Joke, Diamanda Galas, Talk Talk, Grace Jones, Soft Cell, Echo and the Bunnymen, Bauhaus, PSB. But I do go before and beyond with Yoko Ono, David Bowie, Death Cab, MGMT, IDLES and Lana Del Rey. And of course Bach.

But if you wish to pay three times that price it is available through various sellers on DIscogs . . .

Good points, I totally agree with you that vinyl is also about the packaging. With Siouxsie and the Banshees’ RSD Join Hands album, it is worth having because of the extra track and the interesting "original" cover artwork. It's fantastic to celebrate... See full review

You're evading one of the main points about music: People have different taste. This truism is doubly relevant because the album is an anthology representing the diversity of 4AD. Maybe 4AD is OK with listeners disliking some tracks and loving others.... See full review

I agree with yasdnir below that The Lion and the Cobra is "probably her very best". IDNWWIHG is a close second, but for me does come second because it doesn’t have Troy. The LionCobra cover portrait says it all.

The wonder of the LionCobra album is... See full review

hammykhan - that's interesting and funny at the same time. (I was an editor as part of my job . . . ).

In addition to the last paragraph I wrote about remixes . . .

In my head Pet Shop Boys and Depeche Mode are the 'kings' of the remix. That is why it is so important to include the remixes when considering PSB's catalogue – PSB are amongst the... See full review

PROVISO - Having read what I state below, I want to mention: Tainted Love is not my favourite song of Soft Cell. During the time when it first came out, I got sick of hearing the sound of TL blasting out of trendy clothes shops – it was everywhere.... See full review

cnoaro - lucky you! He probably ran out of gold by the time he got to mine then, but it's still quite amazing. I was more struck that Marc didn't sign it. Being a duo the absent signature made it a bit puzzling; I sort of wondered whether the musical... See full review

At first it sounds as though Robbie_E understands his own words when he says, "you tried to compare Madonna to Kate Bush", I can agree with a sentiment of that phrase, that it is indeed silly to compare certain artists. However Robbie then goes on to... See full review

There are two excellent books on Sinéad O'Connor.

As many JCRZ remixes are so good (or at least have potential), it seems strange JCRZ hasn't been approached to do an official remix.

Sacksrecord. There has been a box set of IDNWWIHG planned for some time now, so it's probably worth waiting for it.

With the sad news of Sinéad passing away, no doubt there will be a few releases, but it will take a bit of time.

So for Chunstiger's... See full review

With time, the PVC sticks to the vinyl and leaves patches of foggy residue on the vinyl surface, it also affects play. You can then properly store the... See full review
