jiggawhat is right. By 2012 drum'n'bass was well on its way to escaping from its dark ages in the early 2000s (after the classical glory of the mid-'90s). This mix is an unfortunate throwback to a period in which mainstream d'n'b created some truly... See full review

That Olof Dreijer/Desire (16) blend really is something else: house DJ perfection at work to create something astonishing. Elsewhere, apart from obvious cuts like Martijn Hoogendijk's Together Alone, an out-of-place Basic Channel and some exoticised throwback... See full review

The underdeveloped ideas and cheesy sounds can maybe be put down to the nature of this as a compilation of demo material thrown together by warp, and can be overlooked, but ultimately this record is just so boring to listen to. Skip it and start with... See full review

One of a handful of incredible compilations from 1992 that show what a watershed it was. It's very nearly flawless. My only gripe is they used the Orbital mix of Kinetic. Ravers know that the true classic is the Frank de Wulf remix.

It's from the offertorium of "Missa pro defunctis" requiem by Pierre de la Rue. Most likely this recording: Requiem Und Totenklagen Um 1500-1550.

Holding a beautiful girl's hand as we came up on some potent molly, standing on a slope overlooking a vast cold war nuclear bunker in a forest in eastern Germany. An industrial plaza surrounded by dense and endless firs. Down below were a thousand... See full review

Anyone else find the stereo (which must be "electronically rechanneled" as they used to put it) utterly horrible? It's very harsh.

The "remastering" job on this issue is utterly awful. Considerably worse than even the earlier CD masters. Avoid.

This is one where you have to buy the vinyl. Or you need to rip this in to audacity and bring it down to 33. It's passable at 45 but in my view is really intended as a 33 record, despite the CD. All the liminal vocal samples sound perfectly placed and... See full review
