Believe it or not, but this actually does bear the KPG@ATM mark.
JJ-180 - JJ-180
posted a review of JJ-180 - JJ-180. about 1 year ago
I'm not sure that all copies of this originally came with a picture sleeve, as I've had 4 copies of this one pass through the shop over the past couple of years and none of them had the sleeve.
Nobuo Uematsu - Final Fantasy VII

The 2 editions have different stamper #'s in the run-out, which can even be seen through the cover on an unopened copy. Both of them have the same black insert.
U2 - No Line On The Horizon
posted a review of U2 - No Line On The Horizon. about 1 year ago
Those are definitely Grundman's signature "BG" initials in the run-out. A nice sounding cut & one of the best audio-wise of any U2 first pressings. An overall underrated album in their catalog.
Opeth - Blackwater Park
posted a review of Opeth - Blackwater Park. about 1 year ago
That isn't Bellman's signature stylized "CB" on the D-side. If this was one of his cuts his standard "CB" would be on all 4 sides for sure.
Megadeth - Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good!

Kind of odd that this pressing has the Combat Core labels. Maybe they ran out of the mainline Combat labels & opted for these just to get a quick re-press out the door.

This record is a complete hidden gem. Excellent writing and arrangements with some great playing to boot. It's heady & yet still swings. Definitely recommended.
Boz Scaggs - Silk Degrees

The misprinted song title on the back ("We're All One") is actually a better song title than "We're All Alone" in my opinion. "What Can I Say" is a killer tune, by the way.

The etching is very faint. Strangely enough, the copy I'm looking at right now only has the etching on the B-side. It's a rare enough album that there could be some more variants that haven't been added to the database yet.
Crystal Clear Records

I actually have a question that maybe someone out there can answer. I have come across a Crystal Clear test pressing that judging by the matrix information is CCS 5013. It's 2 side-long tracks of percussion somewhat akin to a Rhythm Devils type vibe.... See full review
Tim Buckley - Look At The Fool

Crucify me if you'd like, but this LP needs a re-appraisal as soon as possible. He heads further on down the skeevy, druggy sex-funk road that made Greetings From L.A. a great album, but tightens it up & goes darker. I'm seriously fond of every tune... See full review

One of the hardest bands of all time! Anytime I hear this record I want to crash straight through a wall like the Kool-Aid Man!
fIREHOSE - Live Totem Pole EP
posted a comment on fIREHOSE - Live Totem Pole EP. over 4 years ago
For me, fIREHOSE were a much better live band than they were a studio act & I feel this EP stands as proof. I had the good fortune of seeing them many times in the greater Los Angeles area in the early 90's and I don't remember there being one lame... See full review

A top to bottom solid album of good tunes, great playing, the Novi Singers & a high funk quotient. You can't argue with this one.
Santana - Lotus

This is as good as live albums get. Prime fusion era Santana delivered in a top notch elaborate package. The tape-delay barrage that kicks off the show after the opening meditation never fails to get me completely psyched. Music for the head, heart,... See full review

Another extremely high-grade Haruomi Hosono project pressed on some extremely high-grade vinyl. It sounds fantastic. "Sur La Terra" is an absolutely beautiful song & is one for the ages.
Gong - You

This is Gong's masterpiece & one of the most truly psychedelic records ever recorded. Full of free flowing & legitimately funky jam-outs seasoned with a liberal dose of Tim Blake's masterful synth bubbles. Mike Howlett & Pierre Moerlen are a world... See full review
Michael Karoli & Polly Eltes - Deluge

My favorite album out of all the Can members solo works. Karoli handles the one-man band vibe to excellence & delivers a mixture of post punk, kraut & juju/highlife that hits all the right spots. Polly Eltes has the right style for this one & the... See full review
Fleetwood Mac - Kiln House

An unfairly overlooked album in their large and excellent catalogue. Sure, it's post Peter Green & pre Buckingham/Nicks, but Jeremy Spencer and Danny Kirwan deliver on this one. "Station Man" is one of their best tunes ever, "Jewel Eyed Judy" is... See full review

Oh man... Here's one that needs to be heard by every heavy rock head right away. "Free To Be Stoned" is an ultimate jam to get dumb to. It never fails to astound anyone who I force to hear it. The rest of the record is kind of all over the place, but... See full review

A strong album of jazzy organ led Euro-psych, with consistent swing & a head nod rhythm holding it together. If you dig those Bo Hansson records, then this one is for you. Her next one, "Trollskog", is real good, too.

Absolutely righteous freaky, heavy & soulful full blown prog greatness (as most of his albums are). Full of free jazzy bug-out breakdowns & solid grooves. Killer stuff right here!

The 2nd disc of this set is probably the best single disc of the whole Picks series ( Dick's or Dave's ), and that's saying a lot, because they're all pretty much killer. They were definitely on one this night. Dark Star is energetic and flowing &... See full review

He was on fire in the late 60's through the mid 70's, with album after album of high quality jams, but this one is my favorite. Touches of psychedelia shine through in the arrangements and solos & the songs maintain a progressive adventurousness... See full review

Nice record! Sits at an interesting crossroad between 20th century minimal classical, world music & ambient new age. A bit like John Cage having a jam-out with Stephen Micus.
Ronald Shannon Jackson And The Decoding Society - Man Dance

A prime album by one of the most criminally overlooked bands of the 80's. Probably my favorite album of the harmolodic / post-Primetime / loft jazz scene. Top players & the compositions really shine. "When Souls Speak" is a stunner.

Well worth checking out, if only for the side long version of "Osorezan", which is a stone cold classic. I really like the choral pieces that make up the rest of the album, too. All around great record.
Bassekou Kouyaté* & Ngoni Ba - Ba Power

For me, this is easily one of the best albums of the past decade. Masterful musicianship all around & some of the best guitar solos ever played on an instrument that wasn't a guitar! Can't recommend this highly enough. Ba Power for reals!

The 1st track is a killer downtempo modern-soul crusher. Huge synth bass & a serious tripper vibration. It really should be on a comp by now. The rest of the record is top notch & it's an excellent sounding pressing, too.
