It is almost hard to keep up with Woob releases these days but for me this is a classic release, reminds me of his earlier em:t work rather than his synthwave of late, it is a great sprawling mix of Blade Runner synth lines, ambience, dub, swirling... See full review

This is an awesome compilation of lesser know and mostly american post punk. Not sure what relationship it had to the film as there is a standard soundtrack as well, but it stands up as a great paranoid themed compilation on its own.

Not sure if it because of Mark Hollis's recent passing but I like to think that this is Apparat's ode to him and later Talk Talk. It is a quiet record for private listening.

Thanks, I found that interview and it has helped me with the album. I am really enjoying now, just had to change my attitude towards it!

Is there any reference to Lisa Gerrard on the cover art? To my ears she doesn't appear to sing at all on this....?

You do realise this came out in 1996? That was before GYBE, before Mogwai, before all the quiet/loud post rock scene. This release took unashamed influence and was a knod to krautrock, hence the german vocals (the english version of the song "Helpless... See full review

I agree, it all sounds overly compressed which is a pity.

From a comment found in the 'FANTOD UNDER GLASS' blog: "The a-side is actually a quite sample heavy “industrial” / instrumental version of the LP track “She Conceives Destruction” whilst the b-side is virtually the same as the final mix."

This album seriously warped my ears as a wide eyed 15 year old and is largely responsible for my warped tastes in audio delights. It still sounds as fresh and interesting some 30+ years later... or is that nostalgia..I don't think so.

Agreed, not sure why it is under the Head Technician moniker, could easily have come out as Pye Corner Audio.

I didn't like it at first either, but after not listening to it for a while I went back to it without any preconceptions and really enjoyed it. so give it another listen.

I keep coming back to this time and time again. Already a lost classic perhaps?

Agreed that it isn't as immersive as Videdrome, I think it fits well with the last release but the tracks really need to be twice the length. Would be great if this series continues with the likes of Violet Poison, Tommy Four Seven, Silent Servant,... See full review

Agreed the bonus CD is a disappointment. The remastering makes the purchase of the set slightly bearable (White Light sounds remarkably better) but if it wasn't for the fact that I had lost my Love of Life CD I wouldn't have bought this, the fact that... See full review

Very 'Songs of the Free' era Gang of Four sounding but with enough interesting sounds going on to make it a worthy dark art pop release. Great 80's production from Cameron Allan, this release still stands the test of time for me. They went a lot... See full review
