I was glad to see this release from Jackson Lee, which I think is his first release since 2017. "Some Early Jazz" is so well done; it samples the vocal from my favourite Diana Ross record, "Upside Down". Gorgeous synth and drum work to boot. Jackson ... See full review

I've been spending a lot of time with this one. "The People" is the long (pushing 10 minutes), super deep cut with a brief spoken word sample. Be patient with it. "Set My People Free" brings the energy up a bit and introduces a funky flute and drums. ... See full review

Quite boring and uninspired house music. I would not play any of these. But I'll bang the door down for a Derrick Carter DJ set.

Kevin Yost's mix of "I Feel Good Things For You" is one of the best tracks he ever made. Plucked by Harry The Bastard for Club H Volume 1.

Still my favorite Proper Trax record. Three freaky but banging groovy techno cuts from Papa Proper himself.

I agree with aidonnbrandon. "Margareten" is "Overcomplete" (from Gunnar's Naïf record) flipped somewhat on its head and layered with a nice pad. So that naturally brought me here to start. "Replacement" is beautiful ambient techno with that sound of the ... See full review

"Sierra Leone" is the sax jam with some whistles and interesting tribal-sounding percussion. "Love Love Love" is a premiere vocal cut, but the strings are awesome and the kickdrum is massive. House music at its finest. Absolutely stunning record.

Twenty-one years later and this record still slaps. Am I the only one that likes "Aztlan" more than "DayStar Rising"? Difficult to choose a favorite though, because they are both awesome. Tribal techno does not get much better than this. This record is a ... See full review

A is fairly boring. B is slightly more interesting. Both are groovy deep house tracks. Nothing special here. Also, lots of wasted space on the disc. They should have put at least one more track on here.

There is nothing interesting about this album. The players all perform well and its not a bad listen, but there is nothing cutting edge, nothing grabbing me at all. By 1983 this style of jazz had been done ad nauseam for three decades.

Absolutely incredible record. All four tracks are five stars. "The Bass Between Us" might be the most underdog track for a lot of people, but focused listening reveals its complexity, lushness, and stunning beauty. Without a doubt one of my favorite ... See full review

"African Indigenous Rhythms" is a bit of a lofty title for a 12" EP like the previous person said, but Ron Trent delivers with these two very deep and spiritual house cuts.

"Y Ahora" is a straightforward but well-done minimal house/techno track. "Esquirla (Panoptica Mix)" has a slightly off-kilter melody sitting over the kick drum, which distorts the sense of time a bit, but it's still very mixable. Solid little deep, funky ... See full review

This is a beautiful record. "Needless" might be my favorite tune of the three. "Pulsez" is a chuggy peak-time bit, while side B is the deep and jazzy good stuff.
