Note that this same recording is used for the Heavy Metal Me DVD video version, with the two sides of this single crossfaded together. It was recorded after the studio version released on Sound Track From Film "Mabuta No Ura" (which was recorded... See full review
Devin Townsend - Discovering Devin Townsend

I assume this is because there's no hidden track? The extra time is the pregap before that on the regular CD edition.
David Sylvian - I Surrender

Note that the b-sides were re-released by Ingrid Chavez as Little Girls With 99 Lives, available to buy digitally on Bandcamp and also on streaming services.
Richard Barbieri / Tim Bowness - Flame
posted a comment on Richard Barbieri / Tim Bowness - Flame. over 6 years ago
Note that this version splits Song of Love and Everything into two separate tracks, so there isn't actually an untitled track.
Meshuggah - Catch Thirtythree
posted a comment on Meshuggah - Catch Thirtythree. over 6 years ago
Note that this is the correct tracklist. The other 2019 vinyl entries mistakenly copied the information from previous pressings without accounting for the change in sequencing.

Hey now. At least use WAVs ripped from the CD! :P
Devin Townsend - Eras I

Those were the only two in this box that *were* previously released. Any reason you don't want those ones?
Jesu - Jesu

Do any of the vinyl pressings use the actual CD mix? Or are they all alternate mixes like the picture disc ones?
David Sylvian, Jon Hassell • Steve Jansen, Holger Czukay - Words With The Shaman
posted a comment on David Sylvian, Jon Hassell • Steve Jansen, Holger Czukay - Words With The Shaman. over 6 years ago
Note that the track times and titles are misleading here compared to Alchemy - An Index of Possibilities. All three parts of Shaman make up the entire A side of this release, while side B is actually Preparations for a Journey (as titled on Alchemy).... See full review
Boris (3) With Merzbow - Megatone
posted a comment on Boris (3) With Merzbow - Megatone. over 7 years ago
Maybe the first track ('merzbow and boris do Time Machines by Coil') but it's very, very noisy from there on. The climax of "water fuzz" is straight drone/noise with a cool backwards riff loop.

Does your copy have issues? I received mine today and it looks great, but I haven't listened yet.
Akira Yamaoka - Silent Hill Sounds Box
posted a comment on Akira Yamaoka - Silent Hill Sounds Box. over 7 years ago
Note that the comments paragraph is incorrect: the Silent Hill 3 Special Mini Soundtrack exclusives are indeed present here, but retitled. "Dance Girl Dance" is "Heads No.1" and "All Screwed Up" is "Life." Also worth noting that "No Excuses" is "Sun"... See full review
Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth

It's a bootleg. There are no official versions that would include The Downward Spiral tracks at the end of another album.
Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth

Obviously. It was released online for free! And if you mean the physical one, anyone who wasn't in the Spiral club at the time was able to get one through Echoing the Sound.
Watain - Lawless Darkness

Super, super cheaply made. Single insert, no foldout, all black and white.

Before November, anyway. As for the limitation, who knows – 500 is often the minimum order at pressing plants.
Opeth - Morningrise

Can anyone who owns this confirm the cover doesn't have the ridiculous scan moire that plagues the Back on Black reissues?
The Smashing Pumpkins - Adore

The sticker isn't an Amazon issue. That's how labelling works in Europe: if it has video content, they place a colored box directly on the cover with the rating. The US copies don't have this.

That wouldn't be a nightmare, my friend. That would be justice.
Porcupine Tree - Deadwing

It was probably for "Mother & Child Divided," but even then it's inaccurate because there are death metal growls in the background, rather than screams a la black metal.
Meshuggah - Nothing
posted a comment on Meshuggah - Nothing. over 8 years ago
He didn't program besides the cymbals. The original drum recordings were used to trigger the samples. And the only reason the cymbals were programmed is because you can't get decent triggering from the overhead mics. Your post is very misleading.
Meshuggah - 25 Years Of Musical Deviance
posted a comment on Meshuggah - 25 Years Of Musical Deviance. over 8 years ago
It does, but they should have done it correctly. The album has a natural split point at 23:46 that fits fine on a regular 12" 33RPM. Not this 6-minute side length bullshit they did for the original picture disc and this CD-pressed box set.
Meshuggah - Catch Thirtythree
posted a comment on Meshuggah - Catch Thirtythree. over 8 years ago
Note that the tracklist on the release itself indicates "In Death - Is Death" is split across sides C&D.

The label confirmed to Metal-Fi that they just sent the CDs to the pressing plant. So beware of the DR inflation due to vinyl ripping.
Meshuggah - Catch Thirtythree
posted a comment on Meshuggah - Catch Thirtythree. over 8 years ago
The way they split this for the vinyl pressings is ridiculous. It has a natural break at 23:46 that makes two 23 minute sides, which is fine for a 33RPM single record. Until they do that, buying this will forever be a ripoff.
Agalloch - Pale Folklore

As expected, the solid white makes for a noisier experience than black or clear would've been. Still happy to own it and spin it; analog formats suit this album.

Boris (3) - Heavy Rocks

There HAS to be something screwy with rights. It's their only release on Quattro/UK Discs – maybe that's for a reason? (Same deal with Flood & MIDI Creative.)

Are the tracks actually split like this on the CD, or does it have the 44 tracks?
Mastodon - Crack The Skye

Did they not fade out the long songs early to cut down the runtime? I thought I read that somewhere.
Ulver - ATGCLVLSSCAP

Note that final track "Solaris" runs longer on the vinyl. I timed it roughly at 3 minutes or so. Nothing new, just more repetition in the first section I think.

This also comes with incense sticks taped to the outside protective sleeve. Insanely well made release!

Some weird edits on some of the songs here, including tiny bits of missing content (despite lots of time left on the side).

The first run of these had incredibly tight inner sleeves. Was this ever resolved?

Indeed, this refers to the cover art (and sound?) rather than the vinyl color.

Does this sound any good? Plastichead doesn't exactly have a good history for reissue quality.

The spectrum analysis of "Sss Haa Set Yoth" shows it seems to be from MP3 origin. Sad.

The color is a semi-transparent cherry. I think they cut just enough colorant to allow the pressing to sound great (without whatever trappings come with solid non-black colorants). However, the master is so hot that "Navigator" (a favourite song of... See full review

Aside from the side D track switch, this is an immaculate pressing. Completely silent. Artwork, though less detailed than the original, is superb. Essential.

Incredible. One of the quietest pressings I have EVER heard, especially given its coloring. Debemur Morti do not compromise quality.
Riverside - Rapid Eye Movement

This is a flawless press. My only (minor) gripe is the inclusion of the "O2 Panic Room" remix instead of "Rainbow Trip," but I understand, since that side would then run way too long for quality purposes. This album is thoroughly brilliant and the... See full review

Another incredibly poor Back On Black job. This one is eternally frustrating because they should have done what they did with Infinity and used the Project EKO bonus music for the final side; that way, they wouldn't have ruined any transitions (I'm... See full review

Easily one of the worst pressings Back On Black have ever done. Beyond the usual lack of quality control, they even fade out the sides in the middle of narration! Incredible waste of money.
Edge Of Sanity - Crimson I & II

sadly, Robert_Trifu's review is indeed correct — i was stunned to find very quick fades out and in, even on Crimson I, which isn't traditionally split into any parts at all like II is.

a worthy accompaniment to a brilliant full length (still their best, i think): though the title track here is castrated severely, it's worth the purchase just for non-album track "(The) Darkening," an example of the band's incredible sense of melody... See full review
