posted a review of Horace Andy - Dub Box - Rare Dubs 1973-1976. 6 days ago
You can take the 'rare dubs' claim with a pinch of salt & not as previously unearthed dub mixes by King Tubby but new mix downs of Horace Andy riddims.

En-To End* - Money Talks
posted a review of En-To End* - Money Talks. 19 days ago
I think this is the best version of it, the remix has the same rhythm & bassline pattern however the added stuttering cymbals / cowbells are more of an annoyance where this original mix has a more harmonious feel without the destraction.
End To End* - Are You Gonna Be
posted a review of End To End* - Are You Gonna Be. 20 days ago
This has two mixes of 'Are You Gonna Be' with the second mix having a different bassline pattern with the vocals mixed more upfront over the original mix especially at the climax.

The mastertapes are lost so these are newly recreated mixes by Sean P sourced from the multitracks https://www.waxpoetics.com/rediscovery/en-to-end-money-talks/

This is the early release that blew up in Manchester first from local dj support with what became a rave anthem in 'Express Yourself' that led Pete Waterman to sign them to his dance label PWL in 1992 as Family Foundation. Which got them national... See full review

The best way to play it is in a discomix style, unlike the other Tribes Man release that has the vocal & dub split in two parts on the A/B sides.

I heard Dego play the instrumental of 'Dove Song' at the start his 'Boiler Room' set (see YouTube) but the single i have did not come with an instrumental. So where can it be found? This is proto Brokenbeat years before it was conceived.

DJ Rap - Digable Bass (Heaven Remix) / Spiritual Aura (Ray Keith Remix)
posted a review of DJ Rap - Digable Bass (Heaven Remix) / Spiritual Aura (Ray Keith Remix). about 1 year ago
The Heaven Remix is the best version of this track, it omits the 'Get Raw' sample & includes parts of the early Force Ten version but with a hard hitting amen break. This also has the better Ray Keith remix of the two he made.

These are not 'dub specials' as the title suggests, but dub versions that have been available on numerous compilations such as those by Blood & Fire. A great first time introduction to King Tubby if you do not have them, but don't expect any dub specials. See full review

The killer track for me being into Jungle can only be 'South London Nights' by Nebula. As you would expect, hard hitting chopped amens, a punching bassline with melodic pads laid over the top to shape the tune. Whereas 'Midnight Star' by Reactive is... See full review

Perhaps Johnny Clarkes best album helped in no small part by a handful of classic roots covers from Burning Spear & The Abyssinians. Its certainly one his most conscious as he mainly focuses on strictly rasta themes, where his other albums often... See full review

More of a disco influence on this compared to the stripped down 80s synth boogie / streetsoul sound of their other tracks. This was quite popular on the Modern Soul scene before this recent revival interest in streetsoul came about.

I have an original & welcome reissues, not only can they sound better if remastered from DAT (maybe not in this case), but it also puts money back into the artists pocket & not just the scalpers on here.
