I like this term. Post-rock is a play on post-punk. Both genres have come and gone yet also still exist. The misuse of the term comes mainly by folks who think that it still applies. I date post-rock as from the 90s and early 00s. It ended when... See full review

I think you got unlucky, my copy has none of those issues.

No issues with my pressing.
Regarding the cut/recording I think it sounds excellent. Its not as bright as the digital (as others have noted) but it has lots of resolution. Plenty of sonic depth and Annie’s voice is clearly positioned on the soundstage... See full review

+1 good pressing, no unwanted static, pops or clicks. Remastered from original analog tapes - I can't compare to an original pressing, but I don't feel the need to find one, this is very good.

Beware, there may be a run of flawed pressings. In the horns, clav and some of the keyboard hits there is audible distortion. This can be easily heard on A2 and A3. Also on the opening note of B1. Maybe that's why I got this disc on sale?

I think this guy might be right - I regret that I sold my early edition copy (US press) and this RM is too bright.
The pressing is fine and the remastering is very clean, but just not as good as I hoped. Maybe its too clean now.

If you're looking to start in on Nobukazu's work (I've owned about 5 of them from the early 00s) and this and Child's View are the two I'd begin with. This one, being less expensive is no less good, in fact it may be his best work. These two... See full review

Really nice pressing - quiet, dynamic, good soundstage. Inner sleeves made of nice soft paper. Outer sleeve is stiff and stylish. It seems that Nonesuch is still really good at making records!

I ordered this twice and both time there was filth on the outer 1/3 of the track, both sides, that made crackles in one channel. I could not be washed off. If I could find a copy without the filth, I would gladly add it to my collection.

Tight throaty sound on the cello - well balanced with symphony. No audible distortion in the dynamics - which is very satisfying. I wish for a little more distance in the cello, but you can hear the mechanics of it fairly well as a trade off. The... See full review

:-) Faust has a pretty good one too, sunshine girl.

Mine came with plenty of surface scuffs (inaudible) and crackling in one channel. Not many pops. A pretty great listen, despite issues. I will not hold out for a better copy from this run.

Does this standard pressing sound anything like the limited coke-bottle colored vinyl?

Note: this was released for free on sound cloud and recorded over a weekend on a 4 track. Its nothing like Ratchet. YMMV.

Yes. I think poor pressing are more common than 1/60, but I have to concur, the noise on Runeii pushed it past acceptable.

The guitar in Runeii clips - I can't abide by that. Clicks okay - but clipping?! Yuck. This is only good as a stop-gap to a better copy.

Yes the first track is clicky, annoying, but the background is black. The silence is silent. The dynamics are riviting. There’s no digitalis in the sound - it still feels pure. Overall, flawed but don’t count it out unless you can’t abide by having... See full review

Here is a really under-appreciated band/recording. Imagine non-repetitive Yes-like instrumental effort as played by Gastr del Sol with a violinist. This is replete with unpredictable vocals, key changes, time changes, but retains head-bobbing... See full review

I've always loved this CD. Sparse arrangements, great dynamics, lip-curled attitude-driven vocals (lots of character) and effective song. The beat is driving and the guitar buzzes with authority. Why this band never got more attention escapes me. ... See full review
