I am a lifelong collector of vinyl records and an audiophile with a keen interest in the specialist high end audio sector. I am a perfectionist. Retired Lawyer, now providing a complete Vinyl Record Professional Cleaning Service in the city of Cork in Southern Ireland and worldwide. We use the Klaudio KD-CLN-LP200 Ultrasonic Record Cleaning Machine and VPI RCMs for wet cleaning. We do not use alcohol in any of our cleaning formulations. Any collector/audiophile who has not heard the benefits of Ultrasonic Cleaning of Vinyl Records should change that without delay. It is absolutely astounding and jaw dropping on well cared for records (M/M-/EX/VG etc.)! I also provide a flattening service for warped vinyl records. I am so encouraged by the positive feedback I receive from customers who have had records cleaned by Vinyl LP Care - www.vinyllpcare.com - and flattened on our array of Japanese Disc Flatteners.

Have you any idea who pressed the vinyl? It sounds as if it was one of the 'bad' plants? I wonder if there is or will be a European pressing.

Nothing really. I believe the original U.S. sounds very good. It may have been pressed by Capitol in the U.S. and that gives me pause. It would be great if Speakers Corner did a quality reissue but I don't think it will ever happen. Anticipated... See full review

My experience also. I would love if a quality outfit like Charly could do this on vinyl. At least they (Charly) would have the nous to send it to a decent pressing plant. I see that it is a Memphis Record Pressing (MRP) pressed disc. That explains... See full review

I was lucky to pick up a Mint unplayed copy of this record in Munich in 2013. As far as I can determinate, it is the first Germany issue. Fortunately, the Music on Vinyl reissue which I had though about buying earlier in the day had been out of stock... See full review

I would have to agree with the consensus here. Mobile did a great job with this one. The sound is excellent and the bottom end is well fleshed out. RTI's pressing is also especially good.

Judging by the Matrix information this seems to be a GZ Vinyl pressing. Apart from a slight warp on my copy, which is now fixed, it was otherwise flawless. Glad to see that the record came in a nice polylined inner sleeve. The record was perfectly... See full review

On my copy of this release, there is a 'smudge' like mark on the final track on Side One of Record 1. It looks like a graze of some sort that you can sometimes find when the metal parts/stampers have not been 'de-horned'. These types of marks... See full review

Plus they use URP in Nashville! Two good reasons to avoid New West product.

Although I don't know for sure, it is very likely that this was pressed at United Record Pressing in Nashville. I got off 'the Steve Earle vinyl train' with 2015's 'Terraplane' also on New West and pressed at URP. I wont listen to or waste money on... See full review

Interestingly, when this German reissue was released the U.K.‘s HiFi Plus magazine in a review stated that it was every bit as good as the DCC vinyl from 1998 mastered by Steve Hoffman. On that endorsement, by a serious audio publication, I went ahead... See full review

I am in the same situation as you. My copy arrived on December 23rd 2017 from JPC. My copy is a poor pressing with ticks and pops in places. Cleaning, both wet and ultrasonic, did not remove these defects. What annoys me is the 'hype' around... See full review

When I saw ‘Made in France’, MPO immediately came to mind. Your defective copy appears to suffer from ‘non fill’. MPO used to be wonderful in the 1980s, 90s and beyond. Since 2015 QC has gone down the toilet at the French plant. I have read of... See full review

This is a welcome reissue of the Prine's 1976 'Best of' Collection. The sound quality is very good and the pressing is a good one too, from Optimal in this case, I believe. Side 2 on my sample was 'off centre' but it was very easily fixed. It arose... See full review
