I believe Merengue was recorded in 1986 and for a few years, was only available via this record. I used to promote salsa nights in London with Dominique Roome, who put the compilation together. I'll ask her and get back to you.

Evening At Hanamachi and Horomi & Rikishi are both gorgeous tracks. Waka-no-ura Bay however is absolutely banging.

Perdido (which means 'lost' in Spanish) has incorrectly been spelt 'Perdito'. It's a Jazz standard that was originally written and composed by Juan Tizol - a Puerto Rican trombonist and composer who played in Duke Ellington's band.

Q-Tip actually sampled Part II. Part I, which I prefer, is continuously being slept on as a consequence. I didn't get to hear it until I got hold of a copy of the LP.
