Definitely one of the more interesting compilations, with a fair smattering of rarities that you can only find un-remastered here. One of the key compilations to get along with the Pickwick Hits 1, 2 and 3 (or The Hits Box) and the Pickwick "Love Songs".

This album is a mixture of every style Kondo has employed up to this point in his career - lounge pop, synth pop, guitar rock (almost glam), ballads... it's all very well produced, and Kondo is a great vocalist (still seemingly channelling Bryan... See full review

Kondo sounds like a cross between early Bryan Ferry or Jagger in the late 60s/early 70s. Solid rock/blues backing from the likes of Makoto Ayukawa (Sheena & The Rokkets). 3 ballads to break things up a bit.

Big band and orchestra with vocals - easy listening, lounge-ish, cabaret-ish - a big departure from much of Kondo's past work. Very very nice production and a great sounding CD.

This album is a combination of Michael Jackson "Bad" era funk/soul and ballads, with epic rock choruses and overall a sound of peak Dead Or Alive - lots of sequencers and synths but some guitar. Drums sound programmed. A couple of tracks near the end... See full review

Album seems to be inspired by Yellow Magic Orchestra's "XOO Multiplies" as it mixes comedy sketches with music tracks - also featuring Snakeman Show's Katsuya Kobayashi doing his Wolfman Jack style voice in English during the introduction. Side One is... See full review

Lush, beautiful synthpop album with playing from Hosono, Miharu Koshi, Yasuharu Konishi and Masataka Matsutoya. Concept by Takashi Matsumoto who produced and wrote all the lyrics around the theme of flowers. Apparently sold 179,000 copies in the first... See full review

Solid rock/pop album with great musicianship - pity the players are not credited! In terms of style this is quite mainstream and of its time (typical of Japanese pop that was shown on TV), but with more guitars than synths and some tracks also... See full review

The same sample is on the original mix of the track, so it wasn't one The Orb added, they took it from Suzuki's mastertape.

It's an interesting story. The band had sessions booked with Paul McCartney when he was supposed to be in Japan but after his arrest they were never able to rearrange. The spoken-word section in "Nice Age" refers to McCartney's arrest, and a comedy... See full review

No, the track listing is as shown above. If you want b-sides etc you need to look for some of the individual album reissues.

Very much the Ippu-Do / Masami Tsuchiya "Tokyo Ballet" sound - lots of synths as well as guitar and a very 80s splashy drum style. Definitely rock but lots of electronics too. It is on streaming services worldwide.

Not sure if this is an error or intentional, but "The Other Side Of Life" has the vocal louder in the right channel than the left for the first verse.

I came here after finding the album for sale on iTunes - would rather buy a physical copy. If it is openly on sale via Apple, and also on streaming services surely it is official?
