Original named Absolute Zero in early 1995 the band shortly changed it's name to Spirus™ by early 1996 and hit the local music scene almost immediately. Before Bucks County knew what hit them they rocked Battle of the Band shows across the county. Spirus™ also put together a Hard Rock Festival called "Death Fest" and collaborated with the Top Hard Rock Bands in the County such as Havoc, Heckle, and Charel with Dark Prophet headlining the festival. By 1998, Spirus™ had a huge following and recorded their first demo self titled "Spirus".
Unfortunately in early 1999 after a friendly dispute and change in music taste the band came to a screeching halt and very slowly fell apart.
Surprisingly the band got back together in 2001 for two sessions but Drummer Mike McCurdy departed from the band but the band kept going. Bringing in a new Bassist Bill McManus, former Bassist Brad Potts switched his role to drums which became a perfect fit. The new 4 man band (Perry Maholland - Vocals, J.G.W. - Rhythm/Lead Guitar, Bill McManus - Bass, Brad Potts - Drums) was in full swing. In Late 2001 Spirus™ recorded their demo titled "Ether". The demo was recorded and mixed by former Rhythm Guitarist Dave Thornton. The band toured Philadelphia and Bucks County from 2001-2002 during the "Ether" tour and was well known for their performance at Doc Watson's Pub in September of 2002. Spirus™ then took a year break before their East Coast tour in 2003.
Spirus™ is currently rehearsing for their new LP due out early 2014. This will mark their 5th album (4rd Studio album) following their Self Titled debut album, Ether, The Death Fest and Self Titled B-Sides Release in 2008.
Their currently line-up is as follows:
Perry Maholland - Vocals
J.G.W. - Guitar/Slide Guitar/Backing Vocals/Synths
Mario Scuderi - Guitar
Jonathan Dilks - Bass Guitar
Mike McCurdy - Drums
