The list above is growing...
Loudness is king it would appear. This would of not been the case 20 or more years ago.
Check the link for the track. New mixes but the Original mix is also available. https://www.traxsource.com/title/1074462/my-soul-cries-out
To my knowledge it was never released on un-mixed CD or vinyl. This is the only release it appears on in mixed CD form. I remember hearing it around 13 years ago on various mix podasts and online radio shows. The Gene Hunt track was another one ... See full review
The (Straight Pass) on the A side of "He's Always" was never issued on CD. Pity because it was the better version of the track imo.
The versions by Tony Humphries of the earlier single "Alright" on the B side were issued on CD however, but is pretty ... See full review
Actually this wasn't a bad pressing as far as coloured vinyl goes. Usually it doesn't bode well in terms of sound quality, but this was pretty weighty too. Probably the fact they used a shiny gloss over the gold colour?
I wish the other mixes by CJ ... See full review
"Nights Of Bahia Mix" was played by Roger Sanchez on his Radio 1 Essential Mix back in July 1995. He actually played 2 versions of the track, mixing in the aforementioned mix during his "Ultimate Anthem Mix".
I always thought it was a great segue and ... See full review
It would be cool to see the UK remixes by Booker T released in digital formats.
I think Grant Nelson would be a good choice too for a future House Masters release. Anyone agree?
DM Remix was actually edited on this release. Original length is over 10 minutes. Pity the CDS didn't include this version even at the shorter 8:45 duration.
Yes, i noticed that too. FOS Vocal is over 10 minutes.
Thanks for the information funkseeker. I remember JBO did release some things in digital formats online in recent years.
Apparently Remixer, Producer David Morales remixed this track in 1992. I would of loved to hear his effort, but unfortunately the mix was rejected and was never released.
If anyone has this CD i urge you to rip it in lossless format before the CD suffers the dreaded disc rot. Mine has started to do this in the last few months.
It was unfortunately a regular occurrence with PDO UK CD releases.
Track 3 is also known as Frankie's Groove Instrumental on the regular U.S CD Maxi-Single.
What a mix :)
Ooh nice remixes. Their was a remix by DJ Aakmael of this track too.
Watch out for the dreaded disc rot on this issue. My last copy was fine, but the initial copy has gone bad.
Also CJ Mackintosh would be a good one as well.
I thought Defected might of followed up the Frankie Knuckles compilation with David Morales. Didn’t happen though!
Also available in lossless formats too at selected digital sites :)
Catchy little bleeder 27 years on from its initial release.
It’s worth picking this up for Track 1, i reckon. One of Kenny and Louie’s better collaborations with Lisa Fischer.
From my experience most copies of this issue are unplayable due to the dreaded disc rot. The Euro issue which was a 3 inch disc is a safer purchase imo.
See scan of disc in the images tab above.
Track 2 is known as the "Valentine Mix" on some vinyl issues.
Roger Sanchez did some remixes of this track although unreleased.
I have the PDO reissue of this release which has the original inlay sleeve, but the disc has no print, just silver both sides.
Such a joyful track with Josh Milan on vocals. I only stumbled upon the "Send A Message Remix" whilst having a look at some old CDr's after about 10 years.
I wish I purchased the WAV file instead of the 320 MP3 though. Surprisingly though it sounds ... See full review
"Searching" is a nice track with it's wishy washy synth lines.
I hope this gets a Digital release in future, for that matter the entire Real Tone Records back catalogue.
I think it was available at one time several years ago, but most of it disappeared on the legal digital stores.
Keyboards by UK's Grant Nelson on the "Lenny Fontana Remix"
A shame this label is now defunct, although there wasn't many releases, it was top notch what was released.
I noticed the legal digital download sites don't offer most of the catalogue anymore i.e. Steal Vybe featuring Chris Dockins - My Soul Cries Out ... See full review
I'm pretty certain the mix title is incorrect for Track 6 - It should be the "Church Mix"
That was some mistake from Defected compiling the wrong mix of VIP. I actually bought the right mix on one of the Digital websites thinking they shortened the mix on the CD, without hearing the CD, obviously they used a completely different version.
Not the best version of "Cars" in my opinion that was compiled for this double CD compilation. I guess the original 1979 version would of been a tad too early for this mostly 80's collection.
I wasn't a great fan of the Simon Dunmore mixes that would get released in 1991, but these versions were much better.
Not really a fan of Another Level but these FK mixes are classy.
I have to agree, unfortunately he seems to be underrated which is a shame.
I must say I only purchased this for "Dangerous" which has a solid remix by Roger Sanchez when he was good. However the harder Tony Moran mix of the title track is a nice surprise, although I'm not usually a fan of that harder house sound.
I wondered if anyone knows if this was a copy protected CD-R? I knew the Jasper St. Company on Azuli was.
Early Booker T remixes under his old alias "Underground Mass" "Joe's Deep Dub" sounding like a Smack Productions creation, imo.
Tammy Payne - Take Me Now is somewhere on this tracklisting too. I will have to pinpoint where when I play the CD again.
This remix was shorter though unfortunately on this CD issue.
"Backsleeve and Disc both says it's got 8 tracks, while there are only 4 as written above."
Interesting information above, although my disc is printed with 4 tracks.
Some years ago Dimitri From Paris did a wonderful Re-Edit of ''Roger's Deep Mix'' I always thought it should of been longer and he did it very well.
Great single release which includes the title track "Soul Holidays" The additional track "Joy" features two David Morales mixes, my favourite mix is the Momo Def Mix which fortunately wasn't shortened for this release, unlike the 12" Remix. Over 2 ... See full review
It is the Brazil CD issue, which has an identical tracklisting.
I have had 2 copies of this release and Disc rot has set into both of them. I did recently come across a third copy which had been stored in virtually mint condition and that is perfect for playing and ripping.
Thats what i thought too. Danny Poku did alot of backing vocals with his D Mob project aswell.
This is quite a rare single nowadays in CD format.
The 1993 David Morales "Def Klub Mix" was a great alternative to the classic remix by Sasha from it's initial 1992 release. A pity the label shortened the "Sasha Full Mix" however. It can be found in it's full length on the 1994 CD, Single release which ... See full review
Track 2 sounds as if it's missing around 15 seconds at the start. It says 6:55 on the release but is actually 6:38.
