Genesis - A Trick Of The Tail

Wanted to be blown away. Wasn’t. Is this worth the money? Yes. To my ears on my system I wish Collins drums were less subdued. Sound is great. Just don’t hear the crispness in the drums like other pressings I have. Groove floor is quiet. Vinyl is flat... See full review

Like many, I have various pressings of all these albums from over the years. Some good, some great, some were unlistenable and got $hit canned. For the $275 I paid for this 2024 set, I have few complaints. One LP is dished but playable. The sound of... See full review

I concur with the previous positive reviews. This really is a great pressing. The sound quality is simply great. Grab this while they last.

Anyone have an observation about the sound quality of this pressing? Is it worth the upgrade? Or is an OG still tops for sound quality?

A great repress. Soundscape is fabulous. Groove floor is quiet. Jacket is first cabin. Yes fans...do not let this one slip away. Grab a copy soon before they're gone.

Agree.
Drums could be crisper. They seem to be mixed down and muted. Worth having but an OG in VG condition can give this pressing a run for its money IMHO.
Lou Donaldson - Midnight Creeper

Curious what others will share about this pressing. I find it to be exceptionally clean. The vinyl is flat and spins true. Groove floor is quiet. Dynamics are even throughout. Stereo does this offering very well in my opinion. Each instrument and... See full review

America (2) - History (America's Greatest Hits)

Found this LP in the $2 bin at a local record store. Anticipating the vinyl would be warped/thrashed, I found it to be in pristine condition. Needed a cleaning from being held hostage in a paper sleeve. Much to my surprise, this pressing is excellent.... See full review

I agree with the aforementioned. It’s documented that the microphones were out of phase to offset the wall of sound speaker system that was behind the band on the stage. Also, this was the era of quadraphonic mixing which was started but abandoned... See full review
The Who - Quadrophenia

Was hoping for Moons’ drums to be crisper. They seem to sound muffled somewhat. Maybe it’s just the way it was recorded. The digital CD versions may have programmed my brain for a more brighter sound to the drums which are a huge contribution to this... See full review

Music/Artist 10/10. Sound Quality 6/10. Was hoping this pressing would be brighter and lively. Not the case. Sounds dull and compressed. I love this album just not this pressing.
Grover Washington, Jr. - Grover Live

Really surprised that there are no reviews (until now) of this fabulous double LP set. It is digitally assisted to vinyl. For those who don’t mind that it’s not AAA, this is a really great show capturing GW Jr at his witty and musical best. Vinyl is... See full review

Content is 10/10. Sound quality is 7/10. Got this cheap and in great shape. There are better pressings available.

Really like Hank Jr’s early outlaw career path. This is the beginning of the beginning. Nice to have if one is a hard core fan. Probably avoidable to the casual fan. Sound is adequate but nothing spectacular. All analog which is always a nice feature... See full review

Found this in a record store used bin. Was hoping this UK pressing would somehow sound bright and alive since it’s a collection of live show cuts. Unfortunately it’s just an average sounding pressing. Nothing special. Glad I didn’t spend a lot for... See full review

Sound quality is above average. LP is flat and spins true. Likely a digital assisted reissue. But if you know this music and the band….it’s still an enjoyable listening experience if you’re looking to replace an OG that’s worn out.

Good sound. Nice pressing. Quiet and flat. Mine came with a shard of vinyl trapped between the LP and the inside sleeve. Rubbed what looked like a serious blemish on the surface of side B. At first the needle skipped, but after a few cleanings and... See full review

Agreed. My 8 platters are flat, centered and spin true. I notice some fluctuations in volume through the 8 LP’s. It needs to be cranked up a bit. Despite that imperfection, Jerry is on fire! Phil’s bass is stellar throughout as well. I’m pleased with... See full review

A great set. Gregg is in fine vocal form. He’s a bit ‘mixed down’ to my ears. Would have preferred his voice be more up front. Still very listenable and wouldn’t steer anyone away from this collection. There is dead air between some tracks hence the... See full review

Got my hands on a copy of this 2 LP set today. Both 200 gram vinyl discs are flat and true. The sound quality here is exceptional. Great bottom end but not boomy. Vocals are mixed a bit to the front but it’s not a bad thing. Great mid range horns on... See full review

I really wanted to like this LP. Unfortunately that’s not happening. This says ‘Made In The Czech Republic’ on a sticker near the label DECCA and Universal Music Company. The vinyl is shockingly noisy with pops & crackles even after several cleanings.... See full review
