My silver copy is also badly warped but doesn't affect play quality

A1: Pulsing drums and guitar come in to start this side. The vocals are slightly desperate yet confident. Horns play their part as well as reverb 4/5.
A2: starts with layered synths that keep you guessing. Lyrics follow shortly after for what must... See full review |

I recommend playing this to any woman on a first date! It’s a hoot for sure.

To be fair, the rest of the album sounds good. I was just so upset with the first track on first and second listen.

You took my review quite emotionally. Are you the engineer who destroyed that first track?
My headphones are great and my ears are nice. I didn’t bother listening to other tracks than the first, MAYBE the second too, after hearing how compressed the... See full review |

Anyone else’s copy really quiet? I have to crank my volume to 8 when I usually only have it at 3-4

A day later with a fresh set of ears, I stand by my first review. Wear some good headphones and listen to this seriously. The dynamics are chopped and the depth of all instruments/parts is totally squashed. I love this material, but this “rendering”...

5/5
It’s everything you would want from an album titled this. Mixed bag of slow, sad songs that keep up the idea you’re not alone; you are, quit kidding yourself. All the same, this will soothe that spot that hasn’t seen a hug in some time. |

This is way too compressed. I thought it sounded overly mastered without headphones and then listened with headphones and was even more disappointed. This IS a cool album but one of the engineers screwed the audio up big time. If you know audio and...

No Wave Art Rock with a vengeance on the concept of no wave art rock. 5/5

A1: 60s go-go rock that rocks; 5/5.
A2: punk rock that circles round the block yelling at you, don’t make them mad; 4/5. A3: new wave, unsettled, mildly celestial; 3/5. A4: straight ahead pulsing rock and roll, with vocals that are speaking from... See full review |

OVERALL: 3/5
This album has some shining spots but isn’t one you’ll relisten to a bunch. A1: punk/hardcore with male and female vocals, synths, and jumping polka beat; funky. 4/5 A2: doowop guitar and vocals that’s both as fresh as they are... See full review |

This is a live recording and it takes you there. The quality is not great, but you wouldn’t expect this type of recording to be of great quality. Once it starts playing you are taken to the party

This is a live performance/reading in front of an audience. They laugh, his delivery is good, but this is not anything that is Uncommon: I have heard him read these passages elsewhere. I was hoping for a CD filled with random quotes of his by him...

Sloppy, grinding, dragging, heavy, desperate, existential, free, chaotic, satirical; this album does more than most. Listen to it a few times. It is good. It is The Swans.

Try playing this at 33rpm at night in the dark for extra cool bop. Did it by accident, but kept playing it at that speed for the rest of the album. Slowed or normal speed this album is great!

So so so so so so so so so good. Post-punk masterpiece. One of my favorite comps.

Ahhh!!! It’s not just my copy. I just got my mint copy and I was scared to press it down fearing it wouldn’t come off without breaking it. Playing it now, and it sounds great, but not looking forward to swapping sides.

This is such a solid album. Sit in a chair after dinner with your drink of choice and drift between relaxation and stimulation. This is way better than his first solo acoustic album.

I got this album when it came out without knowing the band. The beginning track with Cookie Monster style vocals threw me off and I never gave it any play time. 10 years later I picked it out because of its drone qualities (when trying to find...

This album is legendary. John Foster started OP which inspired Sub Pop and K Records. Without John indie rock would not have grown in the way it has.

Glad you mentioned that Eno/Byrne album. Hadn't heard it and the first song off of it is awesome. Thanks

My copy plays well as far as noise level and hiss. Sorry to hear about other people’s not being the same!
