Big Muff's AURALLY EXCITING REMIXES stands out mostly because it focuses on the best tracks off of MUSIC FROM THE AURAL EXCITER. So François K and Matty Heilbronn give "My Funny Valentine" a deep house rub, whlie Fire Island's lovely version suffers from an unfortunate edit. Dozia and King Britt go slightly more uptempo with "Pornstar," while Groove Armada's Andy Cato gives it a chopped funk salad feel. Smith and Mighty deliver two mixes of "Feel What You Know" (though they could have substituted one of Kerri Chandler's mixes for more diversity) while Bob Sinclar gives "Feel What You Know" such a deep bassline that it pulls that track into subterreanean depths that makes Jason Jinx's disco dub "So Far Away" sound middling by comparison. Itaal Shur, the Big Muff himself slows down "Poppy's Song" for a dubby mix and actually peps up "Theme from Big Muff." A rare instance when the remix album is better than the original.
