- Edited 3 years agoThe Mother tape series was initially released in three parts between 2008-2009. Collected here are four previously released tracks as well as one previously un-released outro track.
Mother One - The very first track is honestly one of the most INTENSE tracks from Pasi Markkula I've heard. It's absolutely pummeling and I can't get over how good it is. This is up there with my favorite BU tracks. It's hard to describe in more detail, it just needs to be experienced. Absolutely fantastic material and I would consider essential for any BU enthusiast!
Mother Pt.2 - Track 3 offers a variance on the previous sound. It's an 18 minute track that develops over time with various sample and vocal based segments. The base is built around a semi-rhythmic loop of feedback which multiple layers are then added upon. It kind of reminds me of the method used on Sikiöasento but in a much more condensed and less dragged out variation. A solid track.
Mother Pt.3 - The final release in the series was a 21+ minute scorcher. More of a focus on creating a dense wall of sound here, electronics are turned way up. It's got crunch and rumble and some screeching feedback. Less vocals featured here than the previous tracks. A monolithic cleansing of the palette to round off the series.
Any fan of the artist should pick this one up and it's a solid introduction if you haven't heard his material before. - I loved the album but there was a track missing off Mother One that I couldn’t stop thinking about throughout the entire experience. Bedtime Stories. It’s just one track but it doesn’t feel natural without it.
