Am i the only one who thinks that dj Rush and Fitzy remix, is the best version of Slammer ever made? While i love the original Slammer, it' s a bit on a cheesy side of things, yet an alltime breakbeat hardcore anthem, this remix de-cheesed and transformend it to a wicked darkside, and sounds like a completely different tune, with only vocals remain the same.
On the flip side " final destination" is a killer darkside hardcore number, one of the best Krome and Time productions ever, highly under appreciated track. I don' t care at all for the Nookie remix, it' s so so.
A stellar Suburban base release with 2 fantastic darkside '93 tracks on A1 and B side and far better than subbase 26. Period.

The original version of "The Slammer" is such a perfect tune that remixes almost seem unnecessary. But thankfully both remixes here do the sensible thing, and are very different to the original, essentially only retaining the vocals.

I'm a little intrigued as to who Rush & Fitzy are - I don't know if it's the same DJ Rush that was a Vibealite resident, but it is odd that as a pair they really only appear on this release. Anyway, their take on Slammer is quite dark which is a nice idea, although it doesn't really fit together musically...the bassline in the first break doesn't fit with the pads at all.

The Nookie remix however, I absolutely love. He shapes the tune into a trademark Nookie track - rolling 909 & amens with some lovely warm melodies, all arranged in that classic understated way he had. Just as strong as anything on his own EPs from that time.

It would be worth it for just that, but as a nice bonus there's a new Krome & Time tune in "Final Destination" - which starts out quite upbeat, but then turns darker as the track progresses - a nicely balanced tune that I think gets forgotten about being tucked away on this remix EP.

All in all, the original is still unbeatable (both sides) - but this is a great companion release.
