This is not mono but a stereo mix with very tasteful & natural panning.

Whenever I see mid-career Ella Fitzgerald records, I just snap them up without a second thought. Here is Ella in her prime, with her most beautiful voice and song interpretation.
This is the 2-disc compilation from two different sessions, accompanied by the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. These are huge, lush arrangements that beautifully complement her vocal lead.
Now add to all this, every song is a Gershwin classic, complete with verses, short instrumental solos, and punchy shout choruses, and it's a musical treasure trove!
Ella's voice is mixed center and out front, and sounds smooth and full. She's using her "sweet" voice on many of these ballads.
Recording is full range, and has a nice stereo sound stage.
You want this record. Recommended. - Edited 4 years agoI'm looking at these releases. Most should be only "Ella Fitzgerald" as the artist. The Nelson Riddle Orchestra is mentioned as the Accompaniment, not the artist. See RSG §2.2.1. This is also a compilation of songs and should be noted as such. I do not see this as a mono release as well. The original songs were mono but this is stereo.
