Regarding this Man Parrish & the late Miki Zone production, its a given that after the huge success of electro classics 'Boogie Down Bronx' & 'Hip-Hop Be Bop', from the perspective of the electro scene, this was way different- in fact the usual electro focused Discogs contributors are absent from this page, both in submissions & comments. In the context of high energy & electronic/Ital disco styles, it was more widely received.

Cut for the UK & Europe (no USA release), this I remember this airing as a live performance on top of the pops (UK chart show), & it was a lot of fun. I never digged the subject or lyrics (but was by no means offended by it), more they didn't fit my usual style. That being said, the hypnotic synth & bass line, general production was bang on for the European market at the time, and it's club success was huge, in a homage to Patrick Cowley/Disconet/Moroder-esque vein, albeit more commercial.

What ever you make of this record (it sure divides opinions) and its diversion from the tough street sounds of MP's previous successes, you can't deny it did the job intended, for the crowd intended. I remember the purist electro scene infiltrating the parallel gay scene & influencing its transition from disco to high energy, only swapping bomber jackets & straight cut jeans/tracksuits for cowboy outfits, mirror shades & high glam, and replacing body popping & breaking with a different, more theatrical expression. Thats where this track was no doubt conceived & a big part of its success.
