Misty In Roots – Live At The Counter Eurovision 79

This records ticks my following personal boxes: 1) One of the best ever reggae albums; 2) One of the best ever live albums; 3) One of the best ever debut albums. Has been played regularly since it's release and my Desert Island Disc...well...one of them. Highly recommended and due for a re-issue of some kind! Play at midnight and wake the neighbours.

Surely you can’t get into heaven without this record. Word.

Listening to it right now on a 100K reference system which includes a 10K DS Audio cart. Stunning just stunning. Live lps don’t come much better. If u like reggae you’ll LOVE this lp

Best reggae album ever made. It brings you right into the small and intimate club like few other albums of any genre.

I have loved it from first listen, played it a lot and never grown tired of it.

I was overjoyed when I found another copy of it with a slightly mouldy cover but pristine vinyl.

The last find, the UK version, the PU 003 ALB, is much lower volume and it is more closed in its presentation.

The Belgium version is much louder, more open and intimate and a much better rendition.

Both are good but here, Belgium reigns supreme!

On the CD it says KAZCD12 10120291 02 - I notice there is another copy listed on here with 04 at the end for £102 my copy is different again with Number 03 at the end.
What this shows me is KAZ Records made 4 CD Pressings in my opinion.

Some strong opinions about this album here and rightly so.
Bold cries of "Greatest live album ever made" in some of the comments made me laugh at first as it is such a big call to make, but then.... on reflection, I have to confess it isn't so far fetched a claim as I first thought. I am a 57 year old white working class Londoner with a bald head and a heart condition. If I was on desert island discs this album would be the only live album I'd consider taking with me (maybe Greg at Sunsplash for sentimental reasons) so what sort of cross cultural appeal must this album have to be one of my favourites along with I'm sure many Rastas, other crazy bald heads and possibly even yellowmen throughout this land. Sometimes a band just clicks. This is CLEARLY one of those times. The fact it was recorded so well is also a factor and a rarity with live albums I find. In this offering It all just seems to come together. It's as if Jah was channeled directly through the band and what in effect we are listening to is the actual voice of God. I'm sure we can all agree that if there's a better live album than this we would very much like to hear it. In 40 years I've not heard a better one. Truth is It gets better with each passing year. The added bonus that Misty never sold out must firmly cement this utter masterclass where it truly belongs - right at the top of the pile - closest to Jah. It seems only fitting.

Beyond Essential.
Deep Roots Masterpiece. The Greatest Live Reggae Album & quite possibly the Greatest Live Album, regardless of genre. Something special about this one that transcends genre & era boundaries like only very few Albums can.

As others already said, this is the best live reggae record ever made (and I listen and collect dub & reggae since 1980).
The introduction is 100% pure Rastafarianism and the record follows in the same way.
A real masterpiece.

Agreed with comments below - probably the best live album ever made and quite possibly the best reggae album of all times. Far from "easy skanking", this is deeply serious and almost warrior like. If Dope - Die Motherfucker Die is the anthem for American anti-terror warriors, this album is the "war preparation" music for the righteous Rasta. Truly powerful music from a legendary, yet strangely ignored, band from the golden UK-years.

Man Kind featured in legendary BBC radio DJ John Peel's 1984 My Top Ten programme and also in his later Desert Island Discs recording.
