Reviews
- Edited 3 years agoReleased to coincide with the reissue of their debut album featuring an all new mix as well as a whole second disc full of bonus content, 'Moodswings/The Gentle Art Of Choking' was the last of My Vitriol's singles to hit the top 40. The Nu-Gaze trailblazers hit the ground running with the energy filled 'Moodswings' offering up a tablespoon of Grunge and lashings of Alt. Rock, showcasing what is by far one of their greatest singles.
Also included on this format is an Electronic redux of 'The Gentle Art Of Choking' by Misery:Lab (alias Porl King of Rosetta Stone). It's here that the vocals give way to a masterclass in the use of Industrial refrains in rock music, hitting you over the head with distorted waves only to give way to a beautiful warped guitar riffs. Last on the CD is 'Vapour Trails' - another original track taken from the 'Between The Lines' section of the album's re-release - a short and chunky tune that is catchy as it is toe tappingly whimsical. Somewhat more akin to the likes of Silverchair 'Vapour Trails' holds an amazing torch for 90's alternative music that demands to be heard and could have been a major contender as a single if given the right exposure.
Sadly this would be the last we'd see of My Vitriol in the charts, but it was a perfect way to end this album's work on a high note.
