The Soft Boys – Underwater Moonlight

My copy is this Living Cream Records vinyl in an Armageddon Records sleeve, as purchased new in 1986.

Curious to see the price of this now as I remember selling it without regrets because the pressing was really poor.

This pressing is absolute garbage. From the muddy mono sound, to the (inexcusable) alternate/replaced version of "Old Pervert". YepRoc went out of their way to market this at the "original album available for the first time since 1980" (or something to that effect). I wrote them immediately about it (and actually spoke to the YepRoc guys in person at a NC Hitchcock gig about this) and all they had to say was that Robyn approved the test pressings. There is an interview with Morris, right before the YepRoc LP came out, where he proclaimed his excitement that the "skin it back" (original) version of "Old Pervert" was restored. Sorry, Morris. All of this to say: One needs to track down an original Armageddon pressing ARM1 in order to hear this album in its original form.

My copy has low level noise throughout, most noticeable between songs and during quiet passages. Pretty poor pressing.

My og Canadian pressing sounds a little more punchy in the drums. The Yep Roc isn't bassy but everything sounds like it's in it's place. The vinyl is 99% quiet. Not a perfect 10 record to start.

Bought it when it came out. The pressing is really good. The sound is ok. It's certainly not dismal.

My copy is fine. The bonus tracks included on the download are better than the album! Hoping for a vinyl release that features these tracks.

I just got a copy and it sound good to me. Some surface noise, but... the music sounds great. Love this record. Just got it new, still sealed, so maybe they fixed the pressing? No complaints.

AVOID and stick to the original UK press. This is absolute trash and an embarrassing cash grab by a label that normally knows better. Shame on you yep

I have just purchased a YEP 2628 mono reissue here in Australia, but based on the earlier comment "160038E runout of this record means a new reissue cut in 2017".. it sounds better than the comments allude to.
