UFO (5) – Live

Purchased this back in 1978 on import only. It was originally titled “UFO Landed Japan”. Great final appearance of guitarist Mick Bolton, whose whereabouts are nowhere online. If anyone knows more about this guy drop a reply. This release is unfortunately not the gatefold; when I bought it the only version available was this reissue from Nova Records. The quality is very good with quiet surface and very decent dynamic range, although it sounds like it was recorded using mics in the room versus a direct board recording.

this was a great cd release in japan only back in 1989, this was the only cd reissue of this disc to ever include the original japan lp sleeve, this was a budget release by the brief japanese label METAL MANIA and this disc still sounds great to this day, though technology has moved on in 33 years i must say for a 1989 released cd THIS HAS A KILLER RE MASTERERED SOUND TO IT!!!! very hard to get today with the obi i know, mine has the obi as i got this one 3 decades ago, back in 2018 this was done again in mini lp format in japan in blu spec wich sounds fantastic as well.... they are the only 2 japan ever reissues of this live album from 1971 reissued in japan during the cd years with the correct original japan inlay sleeve....

like i said over 7 years back, these where cheap reissues released back in 1982.... i was never crazy about all 3 of these, they where cheap uk budget reissues w/ alternate sleeves.......

not sure of the date but that is correct, this was RELEASED in 1972 but recorded in 1971, ufo where on a bill with 2 other bands in japan in 1971, i have heard one of them was THREE DOG NIGHT but i cant confirm that, i do know it was a festival type setting & ufo where on first, nice update over 7 years later ha ha........ this lp was released in japan of coarse in 72 w/ a japan only sleeve BUT was also released in europe in 1972 as well..

this is the last mick bolton era ufo album wich was recorded live in japan and released in 1972 originally, this japan only blu spec cd sounds great with fantastic remastering, the sleeve replication is perfect as per the original lp but the obi strip does not replicate the original japan obi from the lp from 1972, all 3 of these where only prerssed once in japan on lp between 1971 & 72, there have been many cd reissues but i must say this is the nicest...............

ufo played w/ two other bands in japan when this lp was recorded in 1971, i never heard wich the other two where but rumors have it, it may have been blue cheer and grand funk railroad but that is totally unconfirmed.................

These were also released in conventional black vinyl as well
