This has been sitting in my "inherited" collection for 20 years completely ignored until today. I gave it a good cleaning and it sounds phenomenal and has such a great collection of tunes on it, including a few that are off hard-to-find albums. A great discount bin score. Keep your eyes peeled!
Found this thrifting - such an excellent jazz compilation! The jacket was a bit beat up, but the vinyl was practically unplayed...until now!- Let’s face it the saxophone is the most popular base instrument no matter what size setting it is placed in. Here we have twenty two offerings from legendary, world renounced players. What makes this set way more interesting is the fact it is a rare, lightly played, promotional copy. Various artist’s are headlined by Coleman Hawkins, Don Byas, Bud Powell, Sonny Stitt, Paul Gonsalves, Sonny Rollins, Johnny Hodges, Harry Carney, Ben Webster John Coltrane, Archie Shepp, Lester Young, Charlie Parker, Eric Dolphy, Ornette Coleman, Pharoah Sanders, Sonny Simmons, John Gilmore, Albert Ayler, John Klemmer, Marion Brown, Dewey Redman, Sam Rivers and Gato Barbieri. Triple gate fold jacket shows some edge and ring wear, chinked corners and has the sticker “Promotion – Not For Sale”.
