Note that the Keyhole – KHCD9001 release above IS NOT a CDr, it is a factory manufactured and burned disc.referencing La Cave 1968 (Problems In Urban Living) (2×LP, Reissue, Remastered, Unofficial Release) KH2LP9001
The sound quality is not good though the performance is. Unfortunate situation really.referencing La Cave 1968 (Problems In Urban Living) (2×LP, Reissue, Remastered, Unofficial Release) KH2LP9001
You've got to be an absolute diehard VU fan to get much out of this one I'm afraid. These are hand-held cassette recordings made by an audience member. How I wish it was off the mixing desk as the VU are on brilliant form throughout. Sadly I give the sound quality 3/10, if that. Having said that - if you crank it up and EQ it a bit there's much pleasure to be had from this album. The VU were a great live band and here's documentary proof. I wouldn't recommend it to a newcomer though.- Edited 9 years agoLa Cave - on Euclid Avenue, Cleveland OH - was originally a folk music club that started in 1962. Lots of big names played there - Tim Buckley, Richie Havens, Janis Ian, Phil Ochs, Judy Collins and many more. Later in the decade it hosted rock bands such as Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, The Fugs, Iron Butterfly, Velvet Underground and more. It closed in 1969. It was a 200 capacity basement. It was one of the Velvets favourite place to play.
