Vital Farias was born on the Pedra d'Água site, Taperoá, state of Paraíba.
He was the youngest of 14 brothers, Vital became literate with his sisters. Vital lived in Taperoá until the end of junior high school. At the age of 18 he moved to the state capital of Paraíba, João Pessoa, where he served in the 15th year of the Lyceu Paraibano. In that period he began to study guitar on his own. Then he began to teach guitar and music theory at the Music Conservatory of João Pessoa. In 1975 he moved to Rio de Janeiro, where he participated in several important artistic events, among them the play "Gota d'água", by Chico Buarque de Hollanda. In 1976, he was awarded a college entrance examination for the Faculty of Music, graduated in 1981. The first recorded composition of Vital Farias was "Ê mãe", in partnership with Livardo Alves and recorded by Ari Toledo. In 1978 he recorded his first album "Vital Farias". The second, "Taperoá", appeared two years later. In the late 80's, Vital decided to stop recording for a while to pursue his studies. In 2002 he produced the debut album of his daughter, Giovanna, with 15 compositions of his own and released the album "Vital Farias live and the living dead". That same year received the title of Citizen of Rio de Janeiro.
