Born: July 23, 1922 in Etowah, Tennessee Death: June 18, 1988 in Maryville, Tennessee. Inducted into the IBMA Hall of Fame in 2018 Also The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame 2018. Performed bass, sang and provided comedy in several first generation bluegrass bands, the Bailey Brothers and Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. Performed With theTullock Family Quartet, late 1930s, early 1940s, Esco Hankins and the Crazy Tennesseans, 1946-1947, Bailey Brothers and the Happy Valley Boys, 1947-1953, 1955, Don Gibson, 1954, Flatt and Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys, 1954-1955, 1958-1969, Lester Flatt and the Nashville Grass, 1969-1971, and Bill & Wilma Millsaps, 1973
