Sten Melin

Swedish composer and musician, executive director of the Visby International Centre For Composers, born 1957 in Kalix.

He started playing the trumpet at the age of 10 and eventually became a composer. His teachers and mentors include Gunnar Bucht, Pär Lindgren, and Sven-David Sandström. Melin has written over 30 compositions, ranging from solo pieces to orchestral works. Since 2000, Sten Melin acts as a president of the Society of Swedish Composers.
