Pop Eckler

Real Name:Garner Lee Eckler
Profile:

American country musician, bandleader and songwriter. Inducted into Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame (1988). Born October 11, 1905 in Dry Ridge, Kentucky and died March 21, 1970. When the Yodeling Twins came back to WCKY, they parted ways. From there, Pop Eckler's Barn Dance was created at the Covington, KY station and from there, went to WSB in Atlanta where they did the noontime show, Cross Roads Follies. Pop Eckler's Jamboree was aired every Saturday night in Rome, Georgia and in Atlanta on Sunday afternoons. The popularity of these shows was such that Pop created a second 'unit' to handle the demand. Thus, they formed the Texas Wranglers, which were lead by Gene "Uncle Ned" Spripling. The group consisted of Pop Eckler, Kay Woods, Curly Collin, Tex Foreman and Red Murphy
